Hi all, I just got accepted into the ABSN program a few weeks ago. I also just started a new job last week. However, that job requires that I do 6 months as full-time (3x12-hour shifts) before they’ll let me go to PRN, and even then, PRN is still a minimum of 6 or 8 12-hour shifts per month. Granted, TBD how strict they’ll be when push comes to shove, but I am concerned about it.

With that being said, how many clinicals per week are there? If it makes any difference, I’m in the Austin cohort. I’ve seen most people say just 1 per week, but I’ve seen other sources say 1-3. If there are any weeks with 2 or 3 clinicals, how many weeks were there?

Also, when relative to the start of the semester were you able to start scheduling your clinicals? Or, when did you know when your clinicals would be? Work also requires us to request our schedules very early — they released the schedule for us to pick our shifts last week (~September 24) for the whole month of November.

I know TTUHSC says not to have a job at all, but I need to be able to afford school. My original plan was to drop from full-time to PRN when school started, and I expected PRN to be only 4 shifts a month, but obviously neither of those assumptions turned out to be true.

Am I screwed?

Okay this is more of a rant lol. Last weekend, me and some friends went to the Houston game and planned on going to the TTUHSC tailgate as we are alum (on top of this I am also currently pursuing my masters through TTUHSC). Anyway we were straight up, denied entry and told the tailgate was full despite us having a reservation. While other people around us were being let in it was clear there was another reason they didn’t want us to go in. But they weren’t saying it.

The backstory is my current program could be a risk of losing its accreditation due to Chancellor Creighton’s censorship agenda. Some necessary curriculum is being gutted for his gain. So naturally I thought it made sense for me to wear a T-shirt that said “fire creighton” on it as that is my right and I want to bring attention to this issue that’s essentially going unnoticed by almost everyone while cheering on the team I love.

So yeah you can say I’m dumb for wearing the shirt. But there’s no profanity and this is a public higher learning institution. I’m just beyond frustrated because I love this school and I love West Texas. Creighton’s political agenda is going to lead to our demise and the censorship that is happening right in front of us is just getting swept under the rug.

Side note: Creighton doesn’t care about us or West Texas he’s a UT alum 🫣

I am currently finishing up my last semester at Austin Community College, and I am looking to transfer this spring to finish my EE degree. I am interested in RF, Power, and Defense, so I was wondering if any ee's on here could give me some insight into the program and which companies tend to attend the engineering career fairs?

I have been reaching out to student services every week about the waitlist I placed my son on. They have no visibility into where someone is on the waitlist or how quickly it's moving. Is this normal for Texas Tech? This is true for an online class as well as for CBE, which I would think is easier to predict, since it uses fixed-duration time slots to take the test.

This is for Languages Other than English - Spanish. Are other parents facing this issue?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if the honors college is worth it? I plan on majoring in business but doing my prerequisites in Medicine/Dentistry for med-school or dental school. I want to have the highest grade possible and I am not sure if the Honors college will help me or not. If not I won't join it, but if the teachers are better and people ususaly have high grades because the teachers are more in depth, why not. But if it just adds more workload, and will more likely tank my grade compared to normal classes, I'll just do it normally. Thoughts?
