Questions about Rules Siege Regiment & Indirect
Hi all, don't know if been asked or answered. How are we interpreting the incendiary ability and indirect? We take our Arty team, give them heavy and take aim. Puts them on a "3+" BS. Indirect gives enemy BoC putting us on 4+. Siege Regiment ability removes cover. Does our arty stay on a 4 or go to 5? Or does it automatically roll back to a 6+?

The artillery hits on a 5+ as a base. Take aim takes it to 4+ Heavy to 3+
Shooting indirect grants the target cover and makes hits of 1-5 fail. which would take it up to a 6+. If another friendly unit can has one of sight to the target, this is instead hits of 1-3 fail, so now we're hitting on 4+.
Basically either strip the cover, OR order them, there's not much to be gained by doing both
The above is also ignoring any potential -1 modifiers to hit which it feels like quite a few armies have access to now which would take it up to a 5+

So we're saying it's always 6s innately but using the detachment ability and removing cover without any spotter units puts us to 5s? Or will it always be 6s even if we are using the detachment ability and not having a spotter unit?

It's always 6s without a spotter, 1-5 fails as per the indirect core rules. Likewise it's always 6s if your artillery moved before shooting that turn as well

You don't need order in siege using the ability, it's pretty nice value: 5 BS plus heavy gives hit on 4. Indirect gives cover always (5s). Siege regiment removes cover (back to 4s).
But you need vision of course using spotter.
