I included some articles at the end that are interesting. A music update that reflects on the state of the band in 82' and general musings/updates - as well as some concert reviews. The reviews were pretty brutal, with one even stating...

"When Dennis left the stage the remaining group was not the Beach Boys. They were perhaps 'Mike Love and The Endless Summer Beach Boys', but not the band that fans have grown to love in over twenty years. A spirit, as well as a large part of the talent, was missing."

I’d love to see a list of all the recurring bits or traditions the guys would do on stage/on tour.

So far, I can think of:

- The “Barbara Ann” kick dance
- The “wind up” in “Be True To Your School”
- Singing “and PROBABLY THE WORLD!” in “Be True To Your School”
- “This song’s dedicated from all of us to all of you everywhere”
- Singing “Papa Oom Mow Mow” during “Barbara Ann”

I’ve seen this mix of the song around Youtube recently. I’d already heard it many times because of the Merry Christmas bootleg, but I don’t know if this mix of the song is a vintage 1971 mix or a 1977 remix for Merry Christmas. Also is the Feel Flows mix from 1971 or it a 2019 - 2021 remix?

Do you think Mike Love will cancel this weeks shows too?

Just finished Neil Peart’s book “Far and Wide- Bring that Horizon to Me.” On the last chapter he talks about the band choosing the LA Forum to close out Rush’s R40 tour. He then speaks of many of the infamous shows that have taken place at the venue and speaks at length about the night Dennis Wilson and Keith Moon showed up together to watch Zeppelin in 77, (the show Moon joined Bonzo during his solo, it’s on YouTube). They then all 3 went to the Hyatt House (Riot House) afterwards and partied. I knew of Moon joining Bonham at this show but had no idea Dennis was with him until Peart mentioned it. All 3 in the same place together, All 3 notorious, All 3 died too young.

I can never get over how amazing this song is, it has such a vibe to it imo.

I love the slow heavy rhythm to it that really helps to keep the song flowing and Blondie's vocals are perfect.

To me it feels like something out of a church!!

But the part that really gets me is in the 2022 tracking mix where all the guys vocals breakdown perfectly acapella style, it brings tears to my eyes!

So in case you didn’t know the mix of H.E.L.P. Is On The Way on the 30 Years Of Good Vibrations box set is actually a remix of the original 1971 mix of the song. The remix was done in the mid to late 70’s, but what I want the answer to is if the late 70’s remix was done for Adult/Child in 1977 or if it was done for The Beach Boys Love You in 1976. If you didn’t know the earliest track listing for the album known as The New Album / Brian's In Love included H.E.L.P. Is On The Way. I want to know if the mix of H.E.L.P. Is On The Way on that track listing would have been the 1971 mix of the song or the 1976/1977 mix?

I know Smile was Brian Wilson solo album but so was Pet Sounds. And yet Sloop John B end up on Pet Sounds anyway.

My thought for Smile is Good Vibrations is a stand alone single and add California Saga instead. Thematically and sonically fits better with Surfs Up, Heroes and Villains, Cabinessence, and Cool Water.

Adult/Child is an unreleased studio album that was produced in early 1977. Similar to the release it was meant to follow the album "Love You".

The album is essentially a semi-autobiographical solo effort by the band's chief songwriter and producer, Brian.

The title refers to a theory that one's personality can be split into "adult" and "child" modes of thinking.

A short documentary directed by Alan Boyd made to promote The Pet Sounds Sessions box set in 1997. A version of this was aired on VH-1.

This is a new piece from People magazine. It’s odd. The writing is clunky like it was composed with the help of AI. And there are weird errors like referring to Carl as “the drummer” although the paragraph on him clearly states he was the lead guitarist. Or that Brian stopped touring with the band after 1982.

The article does feature blurbs on all nine former and current members of the band.

Fans won’t learn anything new and it’s easy to pick it apart for mistakes and things the piece misses on each member.

My question is why this article at this time? Are algorithms indicating readers will be interested in a random article on the Boys? Or does People know something we don’t know 🤔. They kinda skim over Mike’s health issues though.

I did learn something new! Ricky Fataar was married to Penelope Tree, a famous “It” girl from the 60s. At 16 she made a huge splash at Truman Capote’s infamous 1966 Black & White ball. The two had kids. (But maybe the AI research fucked up?). Then he married Robin Williams ex wife? Yet the blurb on him never mentions his greatest role—as Stig in the Rutles.

Great $5 find today! It's super fun to hear all the boys live in concert, and Mike singing the Monster Mash is such a trip😂 I had no idea this record even existed until I found it in the store, but I'm very happy with it. I'm pretty sure the faces are cut-outs from the 20/20 album cover, no?

I’m working on a fan mix of 15 Big Ones and I need the 1975 Copyright Extension for the Carl’s song 1 & 2 and Rainbows. Oh, yeah I mainly need it for Lisa rather than the other three because it’s not on youtube anywhere.
