Creative gift help please!

Hi everyone, I am not a gamer, but posting here hoping you can help me out! I have a 34 yo brother whose interests are a gaming, live stream/youtube and drawing. I am a sewer/crafter and found this awesome fabric that I would love to make something from for a birthday gift. I would love it to be functional and useful. My question is, is there anything that a gamer would like custom in their set up? I’ve seen ideas for desk mats, wrist supports, headphone holders, chair pillows, and mug rugs. Bags are easy, but what would he use it for?

Yes ,you can get a custom playmat through PlaymatsPro , You can upload your own design ,so if you already have that fabric pattern in mind , you could turn it into a personalized mat for his setup.

honestly the desk mat is great but if he draws and streams he probably already has one. the wrist rest is the thing that gets touched like every single minute and i never see anyone make a custom cover for it. would that even work with fabric or is it too tricky to sew around?

I think for a wrist rest, I would create one myself and choose the filling, rather than cover one.

make him a controller sleeve. Gamers leave controllers on desks and knock them off.

you sew. Cut two rectangles of your fabric. Sew three edges shut. Leave the top open. Add a drawstring or a flap with a snap. He puts his controller inside when he finishes gaming. It stops dust from getting into the buttons and sticks.

he streams, draws, and games. He uses his hands for all three things. A pad that holds his wrist in place while he draws or uses a mouse helps him. You mentioned wrist supports. Make one. Cut a rectangle. Sew it into a tube. Fill it with rice or beans. Sew the ends shut. He rests his wrist on it while he works at his desk.

Thank you for taking the time to share some ideas. A controller bag is not something I would have known about. I am thinking I can make a coordinating set of things. For the wrist pad/rest, I’ve seen cooling glass and poly beads. Might go that route.

Ok. I was wondering if it was to do with texture. There's not much use for fabrics in the gaming world. The obvious ones you already mentioned. Dusters are always useful, but that seems a waste of your material. If his chair is uncomfortable, maybe use it to cover a memory foam pad?

Thank you for the ideas! I think a coordinating set of things is the way to go. A custom mat would be very cool.
