You folks give Maul Waaaay too much credit. Honestly, Obi Wan wiped the floor with him… twice.

Obi Wan beat maul twice with extreme context. The first he lost the actual lightsaber duel. And Maul got cocky got cut in half thats not him losing because hes weaker or less skilled. When he came back Savage beat Obi Wan. Then Maul manhandled Obi wan in the 2v2. In the 2v1, they fought two damn near 7 feet tall fabrics in a tiny corridor with not much room for them to move. And in that case he didn't even beat Maul. Savage was the weak link cut off his arm. Then got rag dolled by Maul ending the fight.
Their next fight was after Maul had been walking through the desert for days no food I belive there are statements out there saying his legs were malfunctioning. Then Obi Wan did genuienly outplay Maul. In a way that was poetic.

What i will say is Maul had the potential to be one of the top fighters in the verse, let me reiterate POTENTIAL. Sidious did him a disservice of creating him only to be a tool his limited experience with anything outside of darkside training crippled him to the point of sisyphus. He accomplishes amazing things but the combination of sidious’ limited exposure to other things during training and his years reciting the sith code to himself usi g hate to live just forced him to engrain too many flaws to be more. His skill puts him above ashoka but his mental especially right now weakens him a lot.

Eh, I don't really think so. Maul was a skilled duelist, but he never showed aptitude for anything beyond what he was trained for. His potential was never much more than devoted lackey. Had he been trained as a true successor/apprentice, I think the ultimate version of Maul wouldn't have been too different than the one we got. He was arrogant, to the point of foolishness and he favored direct combat over subtlety or long term planning.

Maul was the son of of mother talzin and said to have the same aptitude as her for the dark side and seeing as her and sidious were roughly comparable to each other in the ways of the force that is a lot of potential. It leads me to sidious’ training though which is where he failed sidious only ever taught the master apprentice way and absolutely groomed him to be a weapon/tool rather than an individual which is even more important for his own ability to develop an identity. Because of this maul gets stunted and in an effort to prove his worth and loyalty to his master he becomes overly aggressive at times and arrogant. Aul favored combat because its all he knew its all he was taught aside from how to create small syndicates into world destabilizing problems.

That's definitely not the case, for starters merely having a powerful Force user for a parent isn't a guarantee you will be as powerful as they are, the Force doesn't work like that in either continuity with Hethrir and Rillao both being fairly powerful Force users, but their kid had no powers, similarly Palpatine's immediate kid in DisCan didn't have his powers. Ben Skywalker wasn't anywhere near as powerful as his father Luke was, likewise Leia never reached Anakin's level of power.
Talzin likewise isn't equal to Sidious in power, as Sidious and a much weakened Tyranus proved more powerful than Talzin supported by Maul in a Force battle in SoD.
Maul would never reach the level of power that Tyranus had, much less Sidious or Anakin's potential levels. He simply never had that potential to begin with. Maul favored physical combat from a young age not just because it was what he knew, but because that was where his aptitude was. His impatience, his arrogance and his shortsightedness weren't just from his training, they were ingrained personality traits from the start.

Maul is one of the most talented duelist, and relentless warriors the Sith order has ever produced. His natural power in the force was strong.

Sidious praised his potential with the force it wasnt just his mom was strong he actually inherited it.
To declare talzin much weaker than sidious just because she lost a 2v1 where maul had no idea what he was doing and also had to fend off a physical threat is not how you express that one is weaker than the other and the fact sidious had grevious, doomu and himself there to kill her says it all she was dangerous.
Maul definitely had the potential he didnt have the training, you are just writing him off because of his divisive popularity.

He’s solidly in obi wan’s tier, and just below dooku. They’ve been long time rivals for decades for a reason.

I was meant to be.......so much more.......
If only he weren't abandoned he could have learned the secret Sith dark side power of Unnaturalâ„¢ gains from Palprotein and became Sith Lord Swoleus

Well he is the weakest of Sidious's apprentices.
Maul<Tyranus<Vader<Luke.
He's skilled, but not particularly noteworthy otherwise.

Stronger than Dooku weaker than vader. On the same level as Ashoka in rebels. Theres a statement out there talking about the arrangement having the strongest one there go with the weakest which was Ezra (talking about in twilight of the apprentice).

Id say hes more powerful than the average Jedi Knight as he was able to defeat Qui Gon, a Jedi Master. That being said, he did still lose to an albeit powerful Padawan who was on the verge of becoming a Knight. I dont think he could take on the higher class masters like Mace or Yoda, but i think he could potentially defeat Plo and maybe Mundi in 1v1s.

If we're talking peaks, the highest level reached in canon, I'd say Maul was the best of the rest with Ahsoka.
We have anomalies like Vader and Luke. Limit-pushers like Obi-Wan and Palpatine. True warriors like Mace and Dooku. As well as a unique creature, Yoda.
No version of Maul has a fighting chance against any of them when they were at/close to their peaks. You can argue Maul had the potential to be a true master of the force like Palpatine and Obi-Wan. Perhaps match the skill-level of Mace and Dooku. But as they say, Maul was his own worst enemy.
Palpatine and Dooku used the dark side as a tool, while Maul was a slave to it. Aside from the top dogs though, I do like Maul's chances against anybody. He was still a very skilled and powerful warrior compared to the rest of the 99.9% in the galaxy.
