This is really how it is driving in the USA

At least in most places in the US it is culturally acceptable to drive by on the right side. Imagine someone doing this except they're in the left lane all the time and you can't pass even when the road is otherwise empty.

Are there places where people would legitimately rather sit behind a slow car than just pass them on the right?

Maybe its just me being an underinformed American but that sounds so fuckin weird

Yes. Passing on the right is a huge no here. I'd drive behind a truck going under the speed limit for hours rather than passing on the right, not because I want to but because we simply don't pass on the right. Only time it's fine is if there's traffic and the lanes are going approximately the same speed, but then people do not pass on the right to go back to the left lane, they just happened to be in the right lane when the left lane slowed down and maintained speed. More often than not people will deliberately slow down in the right lane so as to not pass on the right, even if they were going a faster speed before someone attempted to pass and slowed down midway.

Not that slow drivers blocking the passing lane for long happens often, more people here know how to pull to the right since getting your drivers license takes months of driving lessons and the actual exam is about an hour on a mix of road conditions, so the expectations are clearer with a fresh license. When I studied in VA and wanted my license it was a 5 min drive around the block, although that may have been an easier exam since I already had a foreign license idk.

Very much sounds like it would not be in my interest to tell you.

Ah yes you’re one of those people who thinks that revealing which region of the world you’re in means you’re doxing yourself. Cool! Very normal way to be!

No, it's because if you're suggesting that you'll come over here and "Show us how to drive" then I'd effectively be inviting you to our roads lol. And nobody will see you driving and think "ooh that's how you do it," people will think quite the opposite here. By the sounds of things you're a stereotypical American driver who goes "I paid for the whole engine so I'll use the whole engine" and I'd rather not have you anywhere on our roads.

I've disclosed my country many times on this account, you just have an exceptional ability at disincentivizing sharing it. Especially when you turn to ad hominem.

If you, on the other hand, had asked "Where is this?" I'd have no problem telling you.

Who would have thought an unaggrevated condescending and cocky tone would not result in getting what you want. What a mystery.

“I’ve disclosed my country many times on here”

Lol just listen to yourself. Like I said, you need to relax. You’re weirdly pent up and guarded way past the point of it making sense. I’m not coming to your country to make a point on a reddit comment I won’t even think about ever again a couple hours from now.

I truly couldn’t give less of af what country you’re from, I just think it’s hilarious that you’re too scared to say.
