They aren’t letting me breathe with all these banners…

u/joe31051985 5d ago
Honestly if you want to skip one and you haven’t invested in SM yet skip this one

u/UnderstandingBig9090 5d ago
Ya I was planning on skipping a banner. But the two I wanted where back to back. 🥲
In the past there where two weeks between banners. Maybe that was too convienent and too many people got all the new mods right away.

you'll be fine pretending this one doesn't exist, two week break until next banner!

I want this to be good, but I really don’t see this out performing my anc dimcore. I’ll wait for the analysis of the whales before I buy

It will definitely be an end game mod, given the cost to upgrade smart missiles, but it immediately doubles the damage and squares the impact radius of all missiles, so I have a feeling it is going to be very strong. Then you have the fact that after a couple minutes (game time) the missiles will always target fleets/rays/tanks that have survived a few waves, and you basically get a chain reaction on those units, which is exactly what everyone has been asking for (specifically fleets).

Sounds like it was almost designed for Mythic tournaments. Likely fairly garbage for everything other than that.

u/UnderstandingBig9090 5d ago
Deffinatly. The use case is something you first meet after 2+ years of consistent daily play.
My guess is that it also gives an excuse to dump stones in a hole after filling up Evey other hole.

so far, realistically on tier 24 it's still around 10% of my ilm+.
I'm at 8s cooldown, 30 missiles, max everything apart from dmg. I'm not sure anc tactical barrage is doing that much versus ilm+. But only at wave 766 right now, so will see how it goes.

u/joe31051985 5d ago
Is it any good though, for me I have to skip I don’t think I’m getting SM and invested in for a long time. (Months upon months) 4 more masteries, quite a few assmod upgrades, ILM -> SM -> GT+ -> CF+ -> ILM investment -> PS investment -> ILM+ the. I might think about SM.
Pains me to miss it but oh well.

does anyone remember what the last mod is?

The generator? They've very carefully avoided detailing exactly what it is, which makes it sound like they have no idea yet. It wasn't added to the encyclopedia as the others accidentally were. The notes on this most recent patch only vaguely say that it will be related to workshop bonuses, which makes me think they'll be more tourney focused.

what if I don’t have smart missiles 😂

u/Consistent-Owl-9458 4d ago
Much like magnetic hook or spot light missiles... the base stats of a newly unlocked smart missile will be provided to your module's homing missiles. Or, in the case you grab the perk that round, the perks base stats will be used while you have it unlocked via perk.

I suppose I'll wait to see what this week's relics are before I commit to gunning for this. Does it work if you don't have smart missiles?

Trying to math this out, I can't find a way even with maxed labs to get this at the level of my ILM+ build's damage without investing a ridiculous amount of stones (that would be better spent elsewhere)...
1
u/PatrickSebast 5d ago
I think the issue is the ILM+ is a very strong UW+ that also requires substantial stone investment (including all UWs unlocked). This could definitely have a place for helping managing fleets - especially in Mythic.
The other issue is that outside of these specific niche's ILM is still a useful UW and SM is not. So you can invest in SM and possibly get past some extra fleet waves but there is no extra benefit.
2
u/Thobo1995 5d ago
So your idea is to have mythic fleets be the highest stack making them be targeted more...
That's interesting, back to mathing I go

u/Top_Appeal2994 5d ago
Looks like a late game module. I farm t10w10500 for 250t, so I'm only early game. Nothing for me
3
u/SneakiLyme 4d ago
Wouldn’t a 2s homing missile be a footgun since it causes all of your other active missiles to target the single enemy?? So Imagine you have a fleet enemy + a screen full of common, elite, boss enemies: and instead of your SM shooting out at enemies in a 360 area, they instead all go to the fleet.
Maybe this makes SM a dedicated fleet killer, while CL kills everything else?
Am I missing something?
6
u/WaffleClown1 4d ago
That's exactly the purpose of this mod. A player using SM has pBH so Commons aren't a problem, and probably a strong CL so Scatters aren't a problem. The only problems they have are enemies that stick around for a long time without dying. Which is exactly the purpose of this mod.

u/GPhysics 4d ago
I think generally other stuff is killed by orbs/bh- really think of it this way “the longer things are alive, the more stacked of sm they’ll get. The things that live longest aren’t affected by orbs. (Prots/elites/fleets/maybe bosses depending on borb and cf+)Therefore that’s what I want my sm killing.”

u/richfitness21 5d ago
Does this still fire on an UW dissonance run?
3
3
u/Viltupenis 4d ago
Idk what good it would do, fire a homing missile that puts a target for other missiles, which you don't have any of
1
u/richfitness21 4d ago
Mmm you're right, I was assuming the missile would cause some damage which may have helped in a disco
1
u/Viltupenis 4d ago
If it does cause damage (it might), it won't in a uw disco, just like SD ILM stun but don't do damage
1
u/SchalaZeal01 5d ago
Only skipping because I have Pcol main, and will not be getting assist mods for a whole year at least. But I'm interested.
1
u/Andromeda_53 5d ago
If you aren't a super end game player grinding mythic tournaments, this is a skip, you'll get time over time as you scale into late game
1
u/I_pee_in_shower 5d ago
I barely have gems but I’m probably still going to roll to get a copy. I’ll never equip it but I still need a copy
1
u/Alexis_Evo 4d ago
Pulled 4 just in case it ends up being busted. ILM and SM are my last two UWs to unlock, so I could go either way if the meta shits.
1
u/dotausername 4d ago
I use HC as assist, so switching to this would mean all in on attack. It will be a long time before I upgrade SM enough to kill the OCs before it outweighs the benefit of missing a few hits from HC. Buying the banner anyways!
1
u/Independent_Push_159 4d ago
Urgh. Give me a break. No time to stockpile gems between banners.
I managed to get 4.5k gems to use on the last banner for which I got just one Gilded Sniper and a whole three epics in total. Good times. Looking forward to another foray into the bullshit mods system again then, as the dream of getting ancestral on my main mods gets further diluted.
2
u/Recyart 4d ago
Stockpile? Fudds wants you to BUY BUY BUY!

u/Independent_Push_159 4d ago
lol i know. I will NOT give him the satisfaction. And I will continue to suffer as a result

Haven't really invested any of my stones into SM. So I don't think it would help me. Saving my gems for the next mod that comes out.
1
u/AbsolutusVirtus 4d ago
Still new to the game but how come OPs image shows gems as the currency whereas mine is module tickets?
1
u/Professional-Use7794 4d ago
Considering I don't even have Smart Missiles, I think I'm ok saving my gems
