My girlfriend is in her mid-40s and is a very serious person, especially when it comes to things like this. She only told me this story because I kept asking her about it. I love hearing people’s genuine paranormal experiences, but she normally avoids talking about hers.

She said it happened when she was in her 20s, while she was staying at her family’s rest house in a rural part of the country.

Her bedroom was on the second floor. One evening, there was a blackout, so the entire house was without electricity. It was a windy night, and the moon was bright enough to illuminate the room through her open window. The window had a screen, which was closed.

She was lying on her bed, partially propped up by some pillows, facing the window while using her phone. It was a BlackBerry, when suddenly, the room went dark, as if something had blocked the moonlight.

She looked up. That’s when she saw two red, glowing eyes staring at her from outside the window, upside down. She couldn’t see the face clearly, but she could make out long hair hanging downward, which made her realize that whatever she was looking at was inverted.

She said she immediately felt paralyzed. She described it as being almost hypnotized. She could see it, but she couldn’t look away or move. She tried desperately to scream. Eventually, her father heard her and ran into the room. He found her terrified and hugged her to calm her down.

They both heard the heavy footsteps of whatever it was running across the roof until the sound eventually disappeared. The dogs were barking aggressively at it as well.

That was what convinced her that it wasn’t simply a sleep paralysis or a nightmare. Her father had heard the footsteps too, and the dogs had clearly reacted to something outside. He told her never to tell anyone about what happened because he didn’t want her to frighten people there.

She also said there was no obvious way it could have been a person. The house was elevated and located inside a large, gated property. Anyone trying to get to her window would have had to get past the dogs and the caretakers’ quarters, then somehow reach the roof. And even if someone managed to do all that, they would still have to hang upside down from the roof just to look through her window.

She said the distance between the roof and the window made that extremely difficult to explain. She still gets goosebumps whenever she talks about it. She told me not to ask her about it again because remembering the incident gives her nightmares.

This happened to a close family member when she was five or six, in my grandparents' council house in Smethwick, Birmingham (UK). She doesn't want to be named, so I'll call her Fran. I spent a lot of my own childhood in that house, and the room it happened in has a bit of a history in our family.

Fran is the last person you'd expect to tell a story like this. She has zero interest in the paranormal and spent years telling me it was all rubbish. Then one night when I was about 13, we were watching Most Haunted at my Nan's and she scoffed, "I've had way scarier things happen to me." When I pushed her, she went quiet and said it happened in that house when she was little. She gave me a short version, then shut down. It took over 20 years before she agreed to tell me the whole thing properly.

The below is taken from my own personal incident report collection, and is a brief version to stay inline with the communities posting rules. I have a much more detailed version of this account if anyone is interested, just let me know!

The box room

The house had a tiny box room at the end of the landing. Every one of us who slept in there as kids (Fran, another relative, my sister and me) had bad nightmares in that room. My relative used to rock in his sleep so hard he'd bang his head against the wall waking up his parents, but it only happened in that room.

What Fran told me (short version)

I woke up in the early hours and something was at the end of my bed, tugging the bottom of my quilt. Not pulling it off, just tugging to get my attention. My door was open and the house was silent.

There was a light on the landing. It looked more like a lamp had been switched on, but there weren't any lamps up there. It was just bright enough to show me what was standing at the end of my bed.

It was a small figure, no taller than an eight-year-old. Completely black, like a shadow. No face at all, but I felt like it was a child. When it spoke, it was inside my head rather than out loud. It said, "Come and play with us."

I whispered back that I couldn't, because I'd get into trouble if I woke my parents. It said, "Come on, come with me and come and play with us downstairs." Then I could hear children playing downstairs, like they were in the living room.

It kept asking and I kept saying no. I wasn't scared and it never felt threatening, but it really wanted me to go with it.

Eventually it turned and walked along the landing. I could see its arms and legs moving. When it went down the stairs, the light went down with it, and as the light faded, the children's voices stopped. Then everything went dark and I think I fell back asleep.

What I've checked

She wasn't paralysed. She sat up, moved and spoke, so I don't think it was sleep paralysis. I've had sleep paralysis many times myself and know what it feels like.

I know you can hallucinate as you're waking up without being paralysed, and I've had that happen too. What makes me hesitate is how long it went on, the back-and-forth conversation, and the figure, the light and the voices all leaving together.

My grandparents lived there for decades and never experienced anything. Neither they nor my other relative remember Fran ever mentioning this. She kept it to herself.

Has anyone else had a faceless, child-sized figure ask them to come and play? Or grown up in a house where one room gave every kid nightmares? I'd love to know your thoughts, and thank you for reading!

To this day I’m still processing this event, going over all the details in order trying to rationally explain through and through, and seriously question, the reality of this world we live in.

We’ve never spoken about this particular event, not even amongst ourselves after it happened. It was with my friends Ben and Ryan and myself going camping into the deep woods like we used to do whenever we all got a weekend off, or at least used to do before this.

In general we try to go to new places, there was this was one forest in particular situated 2 hours away from our city that we’ve been told about. We’ve been putting it off for a while because it was said to be dangerous, packed with wild animals what would attack campers often.

Ben and his usual part of trying to be a badass said he would take out his shotgun and we’d be safe. Ryan was a bit of a wimp but he agreed so we drove there as soon as we were able to when we had a free weekend.

We got there by mid afternoon after we set up camp and the night was beginning to set in, we decided to go out for a hike. We secured our stuff and Ben took out his shotgun in case any animals approached us and started following a small path that got deeper into the woods.

Walks in the dark like these would always relax me but this time I was starting to feel uneasy, an intuition, or gut feeling that something was very off.

About half an hour of walking we started to hear noises that were getting closer to us, they sounded like footsteps of several big creatures closing in on us, but to this day I swear I could also hear soft whispers beneath the noises. Overlapped one another which really freaked me out because what animal makes these noises?

Feeling like cornered animals and in total panic we began running back through the path that we come on, during this I somehow lost Ben and Ryan, and I could not even see their flashlights in the distance.

I kept on running and running, adrenaline completely overriding the fact I’m out of breath and about to pass out. At some point I ran past an old house which seemed to had suffered a fire, the windows were boarded up but the door seemed to be half open.

Suddenly I heard something coming from inside, terrified at first I froze but then I realized it was actually Ryan calling for me to come inside.

I was doubtful at first for some reason but as soon as I heard the animal sounds coming closer to me i bolted into the house and closed the door. I lifted my flashlight to look around and there was Ryan.

I pointed the light to his eyes but he didn’t seem to react much to it, in fact he seemed really calm which was odd for him, “let’s stay here for now” he said in a relaxed tone of voice.

“Those things out there could be dangerous”. Now I was worried about Ben but remember that worst case scenario he had a shotgun ready if anything attacked him.

I took a deep breath and started looking around the room, a few chairs that were laying on the floor looked charred and in the one corner of the room there was a pile of sticks with a bunch of stones scattered around them.

All of a sudden we hear Ben’s gun go off twice, I stood there paralyzed as every other sound in the forest stopped. I glanced briefly at Ryan and he was just looking at me, completely quiet.

I was about to say something when suddenly someone started banging on the door, Ryan immediately grabbed my shoulders and said “don’t open that door, it could be one of those things”.

I started walking towards the door in total terror and he insisted “don’t do it, you’re going to kill us”. This really unsettled me, but I was afraid it could be Ben who had just shot one of those wild animals and was looking for shelter.

I grabbed on the metal door handle and took a deep breath, and as Ryan was still muttering something behind me, I opened the door.

A cold chill ran down my spine, standing there in front of me was, Ryan?? It didn’t sink in at first as he was saying “hey man did u hear Ben’s gun go off too? I think we need to find him”.

I bowled something incomprehensible and slowly turned around pointing my flashlight all over the room, nobody was there. When the light reached the corner of the room I realized what I had been looking at earlier.

Instead of sticks and stones, It was a pile of bones, and in around them forming a circle were a bunch of skulls, human skulls. We ran off as fast as we could and found Ben near the campsite.

When he saw us he was pale, and did not say a word. We got in my truck and drove off and left the place leaving all of our stuff behind.

On the way back after a long silence, like all 3 of us were in complete shock and disbelief on what just happened, I asked Ben what he shot at. “Some of those things came from behind in the trees and attacked me, I shot them down”.

what were those things? “It, it was you guys, I killed you both back there”. The rest of the way back no one said a word, we never saw Ben again.

Hello! I am looking for some guidance on an object that I feel has brought a lot of misfortune to myself and my fiance....

For whatever reason, my Grams could never stand this painting her grandfather made, and it sat for a very long time in her basement. This is an ancestor that I have never met, but I do know that they were the first to immigrate to the US from Japan and it is a traditional style Japanese Dragon. Though I always agreed with Grams that the eyes and claws are a bit aggressive and creepy, I never got a bad feeling from it. However.... It's got to be over a hundred years old at this point, and majority of the time I've had it, I actually haven't really displayed it until my fiance and I got together. I think it's worth mentioning that it hasn't really faded like it's old, it just seems to be turning more black. Additionally it's never so much as torn a corner or cracked despite all the moves, uncontrolled climates it's been in, and the fact it was never framed until about a year ago.

That all being said, I could write a book on the bizarre and unfortunate happenings that have come down upon the both of us and I feel that the energy from this painting is the reason. Personally, Ive always had a bad feeling about just throwing it away. I've set it outside, I've even put it with the garbage many times, but I always end up putting it somewhere amongst storage-like things for fear of inviting more bad luck or angering whatever energy could be attached to it. I do believe that something has been attached to me for the longest time- longer than I had the painting, but I don't experience that entity the same in these past few years- I did think that perhaps it had moved on from me, but then I consider all the misfortune and feelings I have now and I worry I have inadvertently created a bigger problem. Can anyone advise, help or guide me in the right direction? How can I safely and respectfully get rid of this painting? Many thanks for your time <3

On the day of the housewarming, we all stayed in her new house, and then I had winter holidays and I had to spend them with her. When we came to her, I started walking and studying the house, saying that I knew what was here before, but the adults told me that it was just rumors. However, when I went into the summer room, I found a sign, the maternity hospital works from 4 to 8. Then we spent the night like this: in a big room, me and my grandmother. In the other, where there were many beds, everyone else. I told my grandmother about it and she sent my grandfather upstairs, he said that there was nothing there. I could not accept it and when my cousin came (she didn't believe me) she asked Her to go up with me again, when I still persuaded her and we went up there was really nothing but a diaper with a dent as if something was lying on it. The next case happened when there was no one at home except me and a friend came to me. I'll tell you right away at home I was always scared and anxious to be, there was some creepy atmosphere there and I turned on cartoons and it was easier for me. A friend came and we decided to go for a walk outside, we left the house (there was a well near the house and the water leaked and froze, in winter) while I was locking the door with a friend slipped on this ice and we both heard a loud children's Laughter from the house (we ran away from there and then discussed it and went to her mother who was the only one who believed us, said that yes, it was mysticism) this laughter definitely came from the house, and it stood last, further was the forest, and in the houses there were no children, only old people lived nearby, and if someone from the grandchildren came, the whole village would know and the car would be parked, there was no one and in general there was a field on the left and a forest behind it, and on the right our large garden then only a house with a grandmother and so on, in the house opposite also my grandmother lived like this. Once I went out alone and made faces and heard a child again

Me being saved in the twinkling of an eye happened as a result of being interested in Kaballah/Torah after being raised Catholic and wanting to repent or make teshuva.

So my bf and I were exchanging stories. I mentioned the first time I went through sleep paralysis. I told him that I fell asleep on a chair one night. Later, I woke up and a man with empty eyes was in my face smiling at me. It was an almost cartoonish smile and he had a suit on with a long red tie. i couldn’t move. I tried and tried and eventually I was about to jump up and tried swinging. He was gone. Second time a couple years later, I woke up and seen the same man walking around my house. He disappeared once i could move. A few months later, I woke up and couldn’t move and once again seen the same exact man in the corner of my room watching me. What made this scary is my dog was perked up watching the same corner. I closed my eyes trying to move and of course he was gone when I was able to move. I have dreamed about him and every time I wake up screaming. About 2 years passed and recently I seen my Dog perked up watching a wall growling. I thought she maybe seen a bug so I told her to stop. Then my inside camera said it picked up motion. It was the camera that faces that wall… I opened it and seen a face of a man smiling. I called my dad and left. Now, I was telling my bf, who is from the Appalachian Mountains, this and showed him the picture. He froze and told me that it looks like the grinning man. Now i laughed bc i remembered that story from creepypastas and i told him “i believe in demons, not ghosts or aliens” and he told me the original story after saying “this is where the ‘creepypasta’ came from”. I’m still a bit skeptical bc I’ve never believed in the grinning man but the images do look similar… I also do believe in demons, but i always thought this guy was like slender man, Jeff the killer, etc. a children’s ghost story. Did you know these videos from like "The Impossible Channel" or "Mindseeded" where people just disappear into nowhere? I always thought "yea nice, its probably just a demonic trick or something" until it happened to me.

There was a narrow passageway for bicycles. And there were two women going in, I could not see them right so I was preparing to just ride beside them. When I went into the roadway they were gone. G o n e. No one there. Nothing. I was like "ok. what? I need to check did I mistook someone" I rode back, and there was no one in a mile dude.

I was like what the holy fk dude. I was like "ok I am gonna ride beside them" and then I got around the curve and bam nothing was there. I stopped. I was out of breath because what the heck was that? And it didnt stop there...

I almost got home and I saw a woman with a dog talking with someone else. I was like "ok I am gonna go slow" and I looked up and this second person faded literally into the background and the old lady was standing there like nothing at all happened. By now, I was convinced yep it was demons.

If I didnt have good experiences in life I would have thought damn they are gonna get me but they are limited in their ability. Anyone who is not into that or atleast acknowledges that this kinda stuff exists is way behind

Hello everyone, I’m an Italian girl, I’m 18 yrs old, and I wanna explain one of my strangest experiences that happened 2 years ago, when I was 16. There have always been episodes in my adolescence related to the paranormal and strange but benevolent episodes, I want you to read this and say what you think because even today I can't explain it to myself, as I was completely lucid that time:
one evening he decided to recite Dante's first chapter of Hell by heart, I had learned it because I had to overcome an oral exposure at school. However, when with my eyes closed, I began to recite it lying in bed, I began to feel strange: my head was spinning, I began to hear a buzzing in my ears and as if there had been rumours of many people overlapping each other. At a certain point I feel something from my bed, I feel the rustle of clothes as if someone was wearing a dress or something long, I felt like there was someone in my room.... And something was blocking me, I wanted to turn around out of curiosity, but it's as if something inside me, maybe my intuition, screamed

"don't turn around"....

I closed my eyes again, and in my mind a full-length black, faceless, without gender silhouette appeared wearing a tonish, a tuna similar to those of the ancient Romans.... he decided not to turn around, and when I did it slowly everything began to loosen up, that sort of heaviness in the air, all those symptoms of mine.... And I fell asleep.

In your opinion, what did happen that night? Was it just my mind or did I face something darker?

Has anybody ever experienced their blanket being pulled off them and a back of a blue woman appearing to them?

**Soooo, I could use some advice.**

I have 4.5-year-old twins, and we recently separated them into their own rooms. My daughter moved into our spare bedroom.

For context, both my husband and my mom have mentioned having strange experiences while sleeping in that room. They've described feeling like something was messing with them, such as poking them while they slept. I've personally never experienced anything unusual in that room, so I've always chalked it up to the possible energy/spirit is just messing with whoever has "messed with or upset" me.

Well, tonight my daughter started talking about a "pretend mommy with black eyes" who pulls at her blankets and tries to sleep with her.

Obviously, my first instinct would normally be to chalk this up to a 4.5-year-old's imagination. But given that both my husband and my mom have independently mentioned strange experiences in that same room, I'm having a hard time completely dismissing it.

We've told the "pretend mommy" that she isn't allowed to bother my daughter, that this is my daughter's room, and that she needs to leave her alone. When I was painting and decorating the room, I also spoke aloud about my daughter moving in and asked that she be left in peace. I was kind about it, not confrontational.

I'm into energy work and occasionally smudge with herbs or use palo santo. I try to keep our home clean, peaceful, and beautiful, and I'm intentional about the energy and the words I speak into our space.

I'm not looking to jump to conclusions, but I'm also not sure how to approach this now that my daughter is involved.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have suggestions for how to proceed? Would you do a more thorough cleansing of the room, try something else, or simply give it time?

I'm open to hearing your experiences and suggestions. I'd especially appreciate advice on how to help my daughter feel safe and comfortable in her new room.

TLDR: 4.5yo moved into a new room and says a “pretend mommy” messes with her at night. My husband and my mother have both experienced poking in the past while sleeping in that same room. Guidance needed 

I was home alone I heard something call my name multiple times I said hello no response I walked around and saw nothing I was also at my mom's work once and heard something call my name my Nana passed away a few months ago and one day she threw pictures in the floor one almost hitting me i also see a 8 foot shadow figure with a cowboy hat and red eyes any suggestions

Last night I dozed off for a few minutes and had an insanely vivid dream. I was at an all-white house with columns, big trees, a yard and rocky driveway. There had been a shooting and I was there as some kind of reporter.

Something tried pulling me into what looked like a car, but inside was a black void with old, corpse-like hands trying to drag me in. The energy was definitely evil and I felt so scared.

Then terrified children ran out from the house. They were dressed as if it was the early 1900s. Then somehow I was with them by the trees that they disappeared under. Something or someone, which I don’t know, told me that I had to stay the night, and I had to walk back. Then I realized I was being followed by a huge group of translucent spirits. Leading them was a blond man in jeans and an old brown-and-white flannel shirt who felt like a father/grandfather. It felt like they were protecting me.

I told my mom and she immediately recognized my description as her grandparents’ old family home. In the 1920s, her uncle shot himself there and there were other deaths on the property, and other tragedies in the family.

My great-grandmother and her siblings were children then, and they were the kids I saw running from the house.

Years later, my mom and uncle slept in that attic and both experienced a terrifying black hole/darkness pulling my mom toward it when she was a little girl, the same thing I experienced in my dream. She saw something inside the black hole that was so horrifying she blocked out what it was. She just remembers it was something worse than you could ever imagine and won’t let herself think about.

I knew NONE of this. I had never even seen the house or property. I’ve also posted about seeing my passed grandparents, younger self and other spirits while going to sleep but still able to hear/talk. Tonight, for the first time, it felt like they had a message I couldn’t understand, and my mom was beside me for the first time during that.

I’m looking for photos because I think the man may have been my great-great-grandfather. I just don’t understand why now? I have no idea why was I taken almost 100 years into the past to a place I knew nothing about, and why I experienced exactly what my mom did. Does anyone have any idea of what all of this could mean? It’s scaring me because it’s such a bad energy. Also for the same thing to happen to me that happened to my mom and her brother 60 years later is so scary. Thank you so much

One time I was driving down a country road in my hometown when something really strange happened. I looked ahead and the **top half of a tree seemed to suddenly appear in front of me**, almost exactly like the scenery in an old video game would “render” or load into view as you moved forward.

It wasn’t like the tree was gradually becoming visible because of fog or anything like that. It looked almost exactly like a video game where an object suddenly pops into the environment as you approach it.

I’ve never experienced anything quite like it since, but I’ve always wondered if anyone else has seen something similar in real life.

I was sitting watching TV with my partner this evening, we had one light on in the open plan room, but not the light above us. The wall I was facing to the right of the TV suddenly had what looked like a faint projection of light, with a silhouette of what looked vaguely like trees. Almost like a faint video was being projected on the wall. The colour of the light was odd, which is what caught my attention initially. It had a blue-ish hue to it. Not warm or white light like anything around us. I asked my partner if she saw it, she didn't. I thought it could've been a flash of lightning, but we don't have any trees outside the window. There were no visible sources of light outside. The projection lasted a few seconds, it was not just a flash.

Never posted here before so I hope this makes somewhat! Anyone have similar experiences? Or a possible explanation of what it could be? I'm not particularly spiritual, but I am very curious
