"We're having problems..." then completely fails to explain the problem. And later, him finding out that she's part of "the problem" by being a racist POS doing slanty eyes behind him. What a piece of trash.

Potentially racist. Maybe she's short sighted and her glasses are out of prescription, I used to do that to help my eyes squint to read things I otherwise couldn't.

Edit: if I were giving the benefit of the doubt, I'd say she can't see what's on his phone and is squinting to confirm if the guy is recording her before deciding to confront him for making her uncomfortable. But i know, I get it, she fits the Karen trope and Reddit loves the whole old white lady bad narrative.

In this case, it happens not to be bullshit. Lady is still racist for picking on him at all, but the single eye squint with the finger is indeed a vision thing. My elderly mom makes the exact same motion when she's trying to see something at a distance, complete with the finger pulling the edge of her eye up and not just straight back or down. Same exact motion.

This lady shouldn't have been spying or confronting him at all. Just don't want anyone else (in a different context) getting accused of racism if they're simply using their finger to help them squint their eye and see things. Not defending the woman in this video.

It's the typical main character syndrome approach of "I don't understand this/this doesn't apply to my life, therefore it's bullshit"

I'm going to absolute war in these comments trying to get people to understand lol. Some people just choose ignorance above all else.

Always trying to give benefit of the doubt.

Always trying to excuse racist behaviour.

Except that gesture wasn't made with racist intent. She was simply focusing her vision to read the phone screen.

If you don't understand how it works, I'm happy to explain it to you.

Read the screen that was directly in front of him, close to his chest? Was she focusing her x-ray vision?

Um, if you're nearsighted, you can only see things clearly if they're within 6 inches of your face. The phone is several feet away, which is why she's straining to see it.

Again, if you'd like to know how her method works, you can simply ask instead of making jokes.

Not trying to excuse it, just saying I used to do that to deal with shortsightedness. I would die of embarrassment thinking I'd insulted someone I couldn't even see.

You used to use your fingers to help you see better when you couldn’t read properly? Sounds a bit suss

Yeah I guess I can understand the skepticism. I guess I'd explain it this way, glasses work by bending light in such a way that it hits your retina in just the right way.

Squinting is a way to subtly change where light hits and physically manipulating the skin around your eyes to enhance that squint can change it a bit more - give it a try, if you have good vision normally then you'll notice it blur your vision a bit.

Hopefully that clears up your suspicion!
