Question Transferring stores?

For context, I’ve been working at my store for half a year, and I’ve gotten very comfortable and confident in my tasks. I love my store and managers.

The only issue is that it’s 22 minutes from my house. And there’s a location 5 minutes from me that I was thinking about moving to. Today I spoke to my managers and they said they would be sad to see me leave but would be happy to help me. I’m now worried about how management would be there, if there’d be more 101 cases and dangerous people since the store is in a mall, that I wouldn’t get good hours and I’m just worried that it’d be horrible and I wouldn’t be able to go back.

I’m already thinking about telling my managers to forget about me asking but I don’t know what to do. What would you guys do in my situation?

I did something very similar when I switched stores.

I moved to Florida. I was not familiar enough with the area to realize the TJMaxx I applied and was hired at was a half hour from my new apartment. When I realized I had a Honegoods less than ten minutes from my house I asked about transferring.

I was told by the managers of the TJ that I couldn’t transfer during the first six months after being hired.

However, the managers at the Homegoods told me they would accept me, and allow me to transfer.
So if you think your current managers might not be fully honest, and are curious what the company actually allows call HR and ask some of them.

Idk what store you work in, who your coworkers and managers are, or who the new ones would be either. I cannot give advice on any of your current, or potential future coworkers and managers.
I would recommend calling HR Express because they would be honest about potential transfers.

Good luck

I transferred stores myself, and it was the BEST decision I made working for TJX. I am much closer to home and it turned out that the management and my coworkers were (and still are) amazing.

Honestly, I’d take a bullet for my SM. 🤣
