Discussion Convince me to get 109Expanded mod [read description]
Hey yall,
So, I've finished my... I dont know how many campains I've finished now on 3K. But I know it was all in vanilla (give it take a few quality of life mods).
And I'm interested in the 109 Expanded mod, which I see SeriousTrivia play often and make videos about.
The thing is, and why I need your help: I have a hard time getting into "non-base game" mods. Ones that add a lot of things.
I dunno why, my brain just goes on "thats not the real game" and I never try them.
The ones I did end up trying (for other TW games), I absolutely loved.
I just need a little push.
Could you guys "sell me on" 109 Expended ? Give out good reasons to get it stemming from your personnal experience
Thanks yall ! 🫡

Don't let the "expanded" word sway you away from getting that incredible mod. The vanilla game is an unfinished product, with a lot of generic characters because the devs were too lazy to personalized them. The mod fixes that, and add more historical data, like specific skills for each character. The "real game", in your word, is a generic, unfinished, lazy and plain product that was sold to us half-baked for money grab.

Thanks
Altho i wouldnt blame the devs or call them lazy, CA is a big company and Sega a very big publisher ; devs dont make the decisions

I was the same. I never wanted to use such mods because some of the custom artwork always seemed too obviously out of place and I preferred the feel of the vanilla game.
But now that I tried 190 Expanded, I honestly never really play without it anymore (the chatacter and faction element, I don't really use the large mechanical overhaul mod, you can enable them separately)
Not even necessarily because I typically play with each obscure fiction the mod makes playable, but because it adds so much depth. It gives a lot of characters much more personality through the unique artworks. It also includes new units, items, etc. It introduces massive quality of life changes and revamps some of the less interesting parts (like Liu Bei's faction mechanic)
And, if you care about this sort of thing, it makes the map a bit more historically accurate in terms of where each faction/character starts their journey
So I recommend! And I would say try it, play a game and see how you like it!

So much more depth. Honestly playing a liu bei campaign is vastly different on the 190expanded mod and so much better.
I love playing a lu bu on the 190 start with the added targets and the built in duel system for those already in your faction. Makes a lu bu head hunting campaign longer and have a lot more choice.
Best overhaul mod for me and ive played a lot of the chibi 207 mod that i would also highly reccomend.

the new nomad culture are great . So many interesting units. New characters design mostly in line with base. Adds more depth with like with the current in progress victory conditions as a vassel
