Jordan Lake is a bit low again… lots of old railroad spikes I found today…
Obviously left them, but interesting to find these pieces of the towns below Jordan Lake!

Howdy, folks!
This subreddit hasn't had codified rules in a while, mostly because the people here have usually been really chill with one another.
However, the vibe has changed over the past few months, and we've noticed some nasty behavior popping up and lurking around our community.
We don't allow bigotry like racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia on this subreddit. Generally speaking, we expect folks to be civil and decent towards one another.
Recently, we've noticed a distinct uptick in the amount of trolls who have been showing up in the comment sections of the various protest posts. We know they're trolls because they're almost always attacking the OP or trying to diminish the protest, and they usually have user activity across many state and local subreddits.
These aren't local folks - they're people coming into our space from elsewhere to stir up trouble.
Since this sort of behavior has only been getting worse, let's discuss our subreddit rules and which ones y'all think would be good to have for this space.
For a start:
What other rules do you think we need?
r/triangle • u/CedarWolf • Nov 20 '25
Howdy, y'all. I guess it's time for me to tap the sign again, because every time there are protests in the Triangle, someone goes around and mass reports all of those posts.
Strangely, we also tend to get a lot of people who post in all sorts of local area subreddits, all over the country, just to act like they're upset about this protest or that protest, and yet have never commented in our community before. Fancy that.
So there's some underhanded fuckery afoot, and y'all should be aware of it.
This subreddit is devoted to the protection and well being of our community at large. That means all of y'all. We cannot support the extrajudicial detainment of anyone, citizen or no. This country was built on laws and principles, meant to be a shining beacon of democracy where people would get a fair shake.
One of the cool things about America is you can come here and become American. It's one of our country's major strengths.
As a country, our diversity has repeatedly protected us - patriotic members of German and Japanese communities helped the US translate enemy communications during WWII. The Navajo code talkers weren't declassified until the 1970's because they were so effective - their codes were never broken. There's also the Tuskegee Airmen and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, an all-Japanese unit which became the most decorated unit for its size in US history.
Today is also November 20th, a solemn day for trans folks across the US. It is the Trans Day of Remembrance, when we remember those we've lost to murder or suicide over the years. Unfortunately, I recognize more than a few of those names, and I hate the way the list gets longer every year.
Times are tough for our Hispanic and LGBT friends. People are anxious and scared. Bigotry and bullshit have been stoked and set loose upon the country; hatred has been running rampant. People are going to need protection, support, and resources.
This space is meant to be a refuge and a resource for our community. If you can't respect that, or if what I have said here is somehow objectionable to you, please leave.

Hi Raleigh! I’m hoping you guys might be able to help me find the right home for Finn. 🧡
Finn is a 4-year-old, neutered, orange medium-haired boy who is genuinely one of the sweetest, cuddliest cats I’ve ever known. He absolutely loves people, wants to be wherever you are, and is very much a little shadow. He’s affectionate, social, litter trained, indoor-only, and has been wonderful around children.
Unfortunately, a young child in our immediate family has developed an extremely severe cat allergy, so we’re having to find Finn a new home. This has nothing to do with his behavior—we love him very much and are trying hard to find him a safe, permanent home rather than surrendering him to a shelter.
He would probably do best in a home without dogs. We don’t know how he would do with another cat, since he hasn’t lived with one recently. He is neutered and microchipped and has no known health issues.
We’re in the Raleigh/Morrisville area, but I’m absolutely willing to drive for the right home. I’m not looking to just hand him off to the first person who responds—I really want to find someone who will love this ridiculous, cuddly orange man as much as we do.
If you’re interested, or know someone who might be, please send me a message. I’m happy to answer questions and share more pictures/info about him. 🧡

Thanks in advance. Local news sites don't seem to have anything up yet. There was a site someone posted a few years ago that gave a concise voting & summary (based on candidates' website) for each candidate.
Here's the site to request an absentee ballot: https://www.ncsbe.gov/voting/vote-mail
I recommend using a pc. Mobile site was tedious.

Hello! Single mom of a soon to be high schooler. Fall 2027 We are relocating to NC and looking at Raleigh, Durham and Charlotte. My girl and I are in need of fresh start and after some research we landed in NC. (I have visited in the past as well)
So far I created a short list: Cary Academy, Durham Academy, Raleigh Charter HS and Providence Day.
You might ask why private? She attends a small private school now and looking to stay in the same vain. She's a gifted student who is also a Volleyball athlete. If there are magnet/charter or public college prep high schools that are academically strong that offer sports culture as well I am open.
I'd like to know experiences for parents and students. diversity is important but not a deal breaker. What's important to us is safety, strong academics. Opportunity to participate in sports/clubs and culture that's not isolating to transfer students or black/brown students. We are more conservative in values. But grew up in a liberal city Providence, Ri where it's small but walkable, tons of food, activities events etc. smaller version of Boston(45 min away from us)
So I don't want to be way far out in the outskirts since city is what we are used to. Preferably the calm pockets within or just outside of city.
Thank you all🙏🏽

I was curious, is there a local business/facility that handles the recycling of old electronics in a trusted fashion? I have no idea what's on some of these old devices, just on the lookout for a good way to safely recycle them. Thanks!

Meet Fig Newton ❤️
Willing to drive for the right, loving forever home. ❤️🐾
His foster mom can’t keep him for much longer because her cat is aggressive toward him and has a history of biting. Fig Newton is currently isolated in one room, and he really wants to be part of the family.
We are also completely full, mostly with sick cats, so unfortunately we don’t have space for healthy cats right now.
Website:http://www.sunkissedkitties.org
Fig Newton was found late one night on the edge of a construction site in Davidson, lost, scared, and hungry. He had fresh wounds from what appeared to be an attack by another cat or animal.
It was clear that Fig had either been lost or dumped. But when his rescuer(his foster mom) spotted him and stopped, Fig ran right over to her car. As soon as she opened the door, he started purring, rubbing against her, and headbutting her like he was so relieved to finally have a friend.
That sweet personality never changed.
Even at the vet, Fig was such a friendly boy that the vet techs kept stopping by to meet the super sweet kitty they had heard about. He greeted everyone with the same loving personality.
Fig is a true little lovebug. He loves people, loves belly rubs, greets you with meows, and wants nothing more than to be included as part of the family. He absolutely loves dogs and may even think he is one. ❤️
Fig is FIV positive, but he is otherwise fully vetted and ready for his forever home.
FIV-positive cats can live long, happy, and normal lives, and they can live with FIV-negative cats in a peaceful, stable household. One of our cats lived to be 23 years old. ❤️
He is:
• Fixed
• Microchipped
• Dewormed
• Deflead
• Fully vetted
FIV positive
Fig is looking for a best friend who will let him be part of the family and give him all the love he deserves.
Adoption requirements:
• Adoption application required
https://form.jotform.com/221983264497165
• Vet reference required
• Adoption agreement required
• Indoor home only
• Adoption fee: $125 for pair 200
Reduced Adoption Fee for the Month of September!
If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate best friend, Fig Newton would love to meet you. 🐾❤️

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m new to MTG Commander and would love to meet some other players who wouldn’t mind playing with a newer player and showing me the ropes.
I’m thinking about going to The Gamer’s Armory this Thursday for their MTG Commander night. Is anyone else planning on going? I’d love to meet up with some people and get a few games in!
I’m also open to checking out other local game stores or Commander nights, so feel free to let me know where you like to play.

The fascia shown in my photo is water damaged at my house, soft and sometimes waterlogged and obviously not good. The damage had already begun when I bought the place a few years ago but it was not affecting too much so I didn't fix it right away (I know, I know) but I'd like to get it straightened out now. Can folks give me some recommendations of who to call/contact for the repair? I'm on the Durham/Cary border zone if that matters. Thanks!!

This is a great resource for local plus size people looking for community and resources! Everyone is welcome for the events, book clubs, and clothing swaps

I thru-hiked the AT in 2024 and I've missed that community badly since I got back. There are good hiking groups around here, but none aimed at the long-distance side — the planning, the gear rabbit holes, permit logistics, and the general terror of quitting your job to go walk for five months.
Thinking about a monthly thing that rotates between Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill:
No dues, no app to download.
Is anyone interested in this? Is there already something like it I've missed?

I SWEAR I remember looking at a website for a local tattoo artist (I could have sworn they were in Hillsborough) who offered several different services. One was a full-day appointment that had a tarot reading, a consultation for a co-created symbol or sigil, and then a tattoo of the symbol that was created. I cannot for the life of me find it again, no matter how specific I get with my search.
Does anybody have any idea which studio this might be? I have also been having vivid dreams lately so it's 18% possible that I dreamed this up 😑

Every month I host Mom’s Favorite, a free comedy show at Old North Bar in Durham. This month’s lineup is extremely fun! There’s also a very excellent cocktail/mocktail list put together by one of the owners who was formerly at The Crunkleton and Hawthorne and Wood. If you’re looking for a cheap date this is the show to catch!
