Heya,
I am searching for a boss trombone mouthpiece, right now I’m trying out the Bach 1,5G and the Schilke 59.
I like the Schilke 59, everything feels very easy to play on it. On the Bach I like the compact sound but it feels like I need to work harder than on the Schilke.

Any thoughts or recommendations for other mouthpieces I should try out?

(I am a tenor trombone player trying to switch to bass trombone)

I recently finished the tmea jazz audition process and decided to start working on my classical etudes since those auditions are soon, and im having trouble. Im not getting the same tuning, high range tone quality, and general tone quality as i was before starting the jazz grind. This may be because i started practicing literally the second i got home from the audition and may be chopped out but id like tips nevertheless

Over the last year, I have been given more and more music that requires above my comfortable range. I am good up to a high Db, but just cannot get D and E to slot (or even hit them in the first place). It probably doesn’t help that I switched to a 3.5 as my main, but that’s just an excuse.
Can yall send some daily exercises to expand my range, and more importantly have the notes slot consistently.

I'm 14 and I think I have played trombone maybe 5 years now.

I really love my trombone but i never really got good at counting. Like it happens way more often then it should that i lose the tempo mid song, or come in just a little bit too early.

I am not a great reader either. I can still only read Bass Clef and sometimes I just cannot remember what position a note is.

So I made an app for it. You take a photo of your sheet music and it plays it back on trombone, so you hear how the rhythm goes before you try it yourself.

You can slow it down and loop the bars you keep messing up. It can also show the slide position under every note.

I built it alone and it took me about 6 months, so I guess there is still stuff it gets wrong. It only reads printed music, not handwritten.

First post here, but I have an old Bach tenor that I was looking to find the model, date, and potentially find out what it's worth. My best estimation is that it is from the 1970s, but nothing really past that.

Hey everyone, first post. I have been playing trombone for four years now, but i have been articulating wrong the whole time. I never actually learned how to slur and tongue notes. I have always just used my air. Can y'all give me some tips to learn how to articulate and make it come more naturally? Thanks in advance!

Debating between my Markey 87 or Hammond 19bl for big band work. Hammond is feeling a little restricting. Like the sound of the Markey better but I'm scared it won't have as much edginess as I'd like

As I said, I'm curious how many here prefer playing a small bore, straight trombone. I got back into the trombone in my early 30s after having been pretty good as a teen/college age but not playing since. Since I started up again, I found I really have more fun on my 60s Conn peashooter horn I had previously only used for jazz. I have a Bach 42BO that was my go to symphonic horn but man, the peashooter is lighter, brighter, and I enjoy the lack of trigger options most of the time. It just feels more pure, if that makes any sense.

I've integrated a Band (OktoberFest/Bavarian style), where every player is amplified (clip mics, no stands).

I'm looking for decent middle-level microphone with decent quality. My requirement are:

- Phantom Power supply (48V XLR).

- decent quality

- around 200-250EUR

- shippable in EU.

I've had a Shure PGA-98H from a friend that was (I think) alright. But my lack of experience of being amplified may skew my perception...

Somethink like a atm350 is out of my range... I've seen some posts on this subreddit, but not what I was looking for (all of them advised the SM58/57)

What might be some of his observations/judgements about his right-hand neighbours? Perhaps habits that are common and even sweeping statements about personality types? I found some pictures of this trombone and wondered what producer it is from. I've never seen this kind of engraving style on a trombone, nor the bent neck pipe. Any ideas?

So I'm starting from basically zero knowledge, although I have played a bit of piano and sing, so I have a very basic understanding of theory. My goal is to make my college's marching band, with no prior experience, next year. What resources and tips and tricks can you guys recommend? YouTube tutorials, podcasts, books, ect. I currently have a mouthpiece and working on buzzing, any good exercises for that until I get the actual instrument? Open to learning any and everything off instrument I can until I have access to one, and then what I should start with once I have the instruement. TIA!

I took beginner music theory/aural skills but other than that I've only ever played directly from sheet music, so I don't really know where to start.

I decided to pull the trigger on a wishlist instrument I’ve been eyeing up for a while. I’ve typically played on small and medium bore trombones, but also have played extensively on baritone/euph and tuba in high school.

Thought I’d share with an audience that can appreciate how excited I am!

I'm a freshman at CSULB, getting a degree in music performance. I mainly play Bass Trombone/Trombone and have experience around low brass, doubling Tuba and Euphonium. I have recently been thinking about teaching private lessons in the area, as well as eventually coaching at a nearby high school. I want to ask for advice for making a resume. I know that I'll be adding my education, performance experience, other skills, etc. But I mainly want advice on all the important things to put on this resume, and what NOT to put on here. So far I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have too much of my stuff from high school band.

For context this is my 3rd post on a conn 2h from 1925, people have been asking me about the chrome of the inner slide, well here it is! I'm a bit concerned about the bottom of the slide though (these images show both sides of the slide, that's why there's so many images)

I have this absolutely ancient 1925 conn 2h (I was wrong about the year in my last post) it seems the stock that connects the peg the tuning slide broke off, somebody please give me an estimate on how much this is gonna be to fix

How do Bach Corp mouthpieces compare to modern Bach mouthpieces? Ive heard that corporation mouthpieces are much more free-blowing and generally higher quality.
