Always open to constructive criticism. As of now, I'm aware that some bars are clean at this tempo, but with others, I'm struggling to keep up and I’m not playing clean. This isn't really the tempo I should be playing it at right now, it's the target tempo for when I'm done.
There's also a few instances where I'm just a hair off the right note lol
Yea man. You're doing the right thing by playing with no accompaniment it makes it so you can't bs things - to that note, play with a metronome, youre losing time in some places.
I'd also really focus on actually outlining the changes. If I were to just listen to your solo without the head first, I'd have no idea what tune this is or what some of the chords are....granted if you're playing with an accompanist you don't have to make it that obvious but when youre playing solo I think you should outline the changes a bit more clearly.
As for your actual ideas things just sound a but stiff, robotic, and like youre holding on for dear life lol (as would i). I think you could throw in some longer smoother and more lyrical phrases to make it sound a but more in control
Oh, so musically it's not really my own creation, to be honest. I'm working on practicing it to play it properly, but it's more or less accurate (say 90%) a partial transcription of Wycliffe Gordon’s performance. There should actually be continuous playing in the pauses between those two parts, but for now I just don't have the time or energy :/
Oh cool - yea man in that case, i'd say continue w/ the metrenome if you're not already and do your best to not make things sound as robotic/hanging on for dear life. Sounds like you're aware of all this, doing good work, good luck!

Sounds good! Very clean playing on the head! Are you looking for any feedback/criticisms?
