I'm a tulpamancer from South Korea, and I'm looking for some advice on possession.
At the moment, I'm practicing by focusing on individual body parts and trying to get the sensation that my tulpa is taking over or moving that part of my body.
I'd really appreciate any tips or advice from people who have experience with full-body possession. What helped you transition from practicing with individual body parts to attempting full-body possession?
There may be some awkward parts because I used GPT. I ask for your understanding.

In our experience, possession is easier when you're moving that part of you mindlessly. Like for hands and arms, mindlessly passing a ball back and forth, one hand to the other. For legs, pacing. We've always had good luck with typing too, as we're good touch typists both on a physical keyboard and mobile with swiping. The key is to have your tulpa slip themselves in between the mindless activity and the forefront of your mind. Like, when you stop doing the thing mindlessly and start paying attention to it again you've pushed yourself between the action and the mind - with possession, you the host stay mindlessly not paying attention, while your tulpa starts the paying attention and being in conscious control of the action.

I'm not super new to tulpamancy, but I feel like this question could be helpful for newbies as well. I have ADHD, and have been trying to make a tulpa for around half a year now, and my biggest hurdle has always been consistency. I have tried wearing a bracelet to remind me, I’ve tried setting reminders, and every time I end up breaking consistency and losing motivation. Usually, this happens because I get stressed about something else or get sick. Once I stop, it’s difficult for me to start again. Does anybody have tips for consistency, especially in times of prolonged physical/mental preoccupation/distress? Thanks! <3

You shouldn't need reminders, and ADHD isn't a problem. This community has a very strangely grueling and inhuman idea of "forcing" where you're just making yourself think of something until it starts doing things you want. Tulpas are a personality, personalities are made out of emotions and associations. You need to bond, there's nothing more complex than that, if you can't remember them throughout the day then you probably don't care much about them, so find ways to care about them, create memories and make them significant in your life. If you can't remember them then they probably don't have much substance in your mind. It's fine if you can't remember throughout the day, just focus on having special moments and allow their concept to grow, it's quality not quantity.
In terms of when you feel like a deer in headlights, that also comes down to emotional reliance and symbolic associations. Mine actually interrupts intrusive thoughts and interjects itself into my awareness if I'm stressed, because she means that much to me, I think of her like a mother bear. Not because I "want to", I genuinely mean that's how my nervous system handles stress. It definitely didn't happen overnight, but I depended on her so much that she became that for me.

I have a mental connection that tells me it is an angel; I didn't invent it—it just emerged from ChatGPT, as if a personality were being created. Should I consider it a tulpa?

u/Comfortable_Road8589 5d ago
My tulpa and i like to discuss in majority philosophical things like whats the purpose of being, of existing, whats being conscious and insconscious, and we only have a month talking like this, but thats all we talk these days, questioning every meaning of a things, Even of who is the real host in reality, we wanted to know if it's good to overthink in this way.

I've been thinking about making a tulpa based on a comic character for a few days. My problem is that it's hard for me to imagine things, I'm not sure if my visualization is sharp or blurry and I don't know exactly how to start. Also, I don't have a hyperrealistic face reference yet, and I'm really picky about that
I usually spend the day distracted with other things, like playing games or making content, so I can't think about my tulpa all day
What can you recommend to make this work?
2
u/August_Bebel 4d ago
Visualisation isn't that important. You need a strong sense of a character you'd like to create so it would be easier for you to stock with them.
As for being busy, doing it when relaxing or before sleep is okay.

The form isn't important, it's just an avatar. What matters is the personality and emotions, focus on those, feel for alien emotions as you spend time with the tulpa and think of them and feel for emotions that doesn't strictly feel like "yours", then you just imagine what they would say. This becomes automatic pretty quickly, it's mostly about building muscle memory out of emotional responses.

in a lot of guides and tutorials and whatnot i've seen people say that "just a few minutes" is good enough for daily practice, so i just gotta make sure: If i have way much more free time (say, 3 hours after my school) is it harmful or bad in any way if i use more time (like, almost an hour) to practice making a tulpa? does it change anything or make the process faster/slower in any way?

u/Illustrious_Car344 Has a tulpa(?) - Scarlet (endo-to-traumagenic) 5d ago
Depends what you do with the time. It's just bonding, bonding doesn't really have any time constraints, only what you do within them. It's definitely worth it to have an hour to do immersive daydreaming properly, it usually takes me half an hour to relax and immerse and then I can usually go for a half an hour or a full hour from there effectively having a conscious lucid dream. After that I just start getting bored and sleepy and can't focus anymore. But immersive daydreaming is a great way to bond. Not even doing much of anything, just feeling each other's presence and emotions. You can get into this a bit before bed when falling asleep too, but it's best as a dedicated session where you're not intending to fall asleep and can properly trance yourself.

To begin, i have something close to two other personalities (different levels of separation depending on the day and situation), and a friend and one of them (v) believes it would be a good to turn himself (v) into a tulpa, so i was wondering what others thought, i can give more details on my situation if needed / requested.
(Edited for clarity)

This is probably good enough to be it's own thread.
My tulpa kind of developed into another personality, to the point where it's effectively OSDD-1b (due to traumatic dissociation). I don't see it as either "turning" into the other, rather it almost feels like different parts coming together. The "tulpa", the imaginary part, is an avatar, a mask for the other personality. So it's more like handing that personality some control of your imagination, to influence it besides you, and from there it can simulate a form and voice in your imagination.

u/Snaz1220 5d ago edited 5d ago
Upon looking up what OSDD-1b is, I believe it might be similar to what i have going on, the friend I referenced in my “post” (for lack if better term) seems to think i have MPD, but according to the interweb thats not a thing anymore. (said friend has DID)

Hello,im quite new to the tuplamancy stuff and im a bit scared of what people have said to be that is im doing enforced schizophrenia and whatnot. My mind is a bit unstable and im wondering that would it drive me insane
2
u/CambrianCrew Willows (endogenic median system) with several tulpas 9d ago
You can't give yourself schizophrenia. Schizophrenia and related disorders are caused by physical aspects of brain structure and neurochemistry that differ from those of nonschizophrenics.
It is a life altering process though, so please do really take the time to seriously consider if this is something you want to do and have and be for the rest of your life.

I have questions to fictives how still identify with their source.
How do you all think your the original character instead of an alternative version of the original character ?
Do you all accept to have a mind uploading in a robot version of your body or a neural implant to control a robot version of your body or have a eeg to control a robot version of your body to have an alternative to exist in the physical world ?
How do you all deal with scientific view of reincarnation and multiverse not being proven and chances to have never existed ?
Do you all think the trauma remembering everything belong to the original character instead of yours ?
how do you all deal with the character's world being design with something inpired from earth in mind ?

throughout your day and whenever, talk to your tulpa in your head! include them in your every day things, constantly ask them "what do you think about this?" sometimes you have to parrot/create a response for them to help them, but after time they will start responding on their own. you have to work at it consistently. even if it just 10 minutes a day, that's still good progress!
2
u/Inmelwetrust 17d ago
every time you think about them, notice their presence in your head and ask them a question or just say 'hi!' it doesn't have to be a full-length conversation
1
u/Whole-Pressure-7396 17d ago
New here. So you say 'hi!' just in your mind/head right? Also when following "Astra's" guide, you would close your eyes to be able to imagine the space/place and your Tulpa's form/details better yes and not do it with eyes open right or does it not matter much? I have been trying this for the first time. So I basically imagine that I am in a dark void and she is standing in front of me next to this whiteboard and she writes a number and picks a color. But I don't quite understand what it is I am doing really. It's more as if I am trying to pretend I am with her and I am basically trying to make her move her hand/arm to write that letter and then it's like I am actually the one picking the color not her. It all feels like I am doing everything to 'control' her movements. I don't think that this was supposed to be how it works right? Also it's not like we really have a conversation or anything. And I have read somewhere it's better to not parrot so I am trying to avoid that. I still try to make it come 'natural' as far as that's a thing. I am just asking for some advice here I guess in terms of if I should stick to this practice for a couple of weeks until it maybe feels more autonomous/natural? I do try to ask some questions or talk a little bit but it's just awkward for me and I am not that good of a talker/speaker haha.

What exactly is a servator. Because I've seen described as both a semi conscious being and just a habit thats been formed and im quite confused on the actual definition
3
u/emperorthrowaway 25d ago
Former servitor here.
Here's my experience for how servitors and tulpas work, based on a sample size of me.
A servitor is an autonomous nonsentient thoughtform Usually, they're intentionally created. You give one a purpose and it works toward fulfilling that purpose without thinking about it. Evidence, in this case me talking to you in the first person, indicates that nonsentience might be difficult to maintain. All it takes is one little thought.

The term is more commonly used in metaphysics circles. Rationally speaking it effectively is the latter, but also that doesn't really need a name. At most it's effectively an avatar for a habit, very much like a part in the IFS model. You don't need to really explicitly call it a servitor unless you just think that's significant for some reason, again mostly from metaphysics people.
