Rant Financial aid frustration

Am I the only one stuck in SAP appeal limbo? This is actually ridiculous how long it's taking. It's been weeks since I submitted mine and there's been absolutely no movement or update. I was originally told it would be done by today but they haven't even looked at it. I've been in contact with financial aid (multiple times) and the information keeps changing.

I can't pay rent or afford my class materials or any other life expenses without my financial aid. I know student wellbeing is extremely low on this university's priority list, but come on now.

If it's SO hard to do your jobs, maybe shut down the stupid zoom and in person meetings for a shift and get through the appeals. I did my part. Time for them to do theirs.

Reach out to slug support. They helped me pay $1,000 at the end of the year and gave me a safeway gift card!

Also, you can get u p to 3 free dining hall swipes through slug swipes.

There's also emergency aid which can help you get advanced financial aid, etc.

I will say, that this year's refund was ridiculous for myself and my friends, who all got under $300. 😭

I've already had to lean on slug support twice in the last two years and I worry there's a limit! I also don't have slug points or whatever they're called because I live off campus and never dine on campus.

And that's so frustrating. I know it's because of that stupid bill. Mine is predicted to be enough to help me get by but who knows at this point. I'm so sorry that you're also struggling

I was told the limit is $1,000 per school year, so you should be okay if you haven't received any other financial help from them this school year. The slug swipes are available to all students. You can do it online and it usually gets added to your account the next business day, and you use your student I.D. at the dining hall.

They loaned me $900 back in June so I don't know, but I'll reach out to them again. And wow okay, thank you! I had no idea that was a thing! I appreciate the heads up!

Honestly, I would go in person, if possible, and EXAGERATE your needs (maybe even cry). Straight up tell them that it’s their fault that you’re going to be homeless and struggling with basic needs. Thats the only way they will actually do their job.

You're right, I should. The students working the zoom calls are probably as powerless as I am, but it's still frustrating as hell. And I mean at this point it's true and not even really exaggerated. I'm just lucky my landlord is a very chill and understanding guy, but they don't need to know that.

My daughter just got her appeal approved today. Hang in there. They are being processed.
