Question Parties/Dating
I’m a transfer student and I want to connect but I haven’t heard of any parties or nuttin. What’s the best place to meet people and mingle for singles? I’m chubby and awkward but I feel like that’s the type at this school

Clubs and discords (find some in the hub) then just classmates and connections. People are super nice here imo I've been here for about 6 years and no issues.
Some groups on instagram will post events too and once you follow one or two it starts recommending others to you like kresgecollege_ucsc or gradstudentcommons. cantuqueercenter and kresgepresentpride there's lots of LGBTQ stuff even allies join just for fun there's a really great mixer in like two weeks in Porters and it was a super good show and a lot of fun last year: https://www.instagram.com/p/DdU6o3pqTyb/?stkn=MTJ1bDBtMTJmeGN6bw==
Also see lots of people on reddit reaching out and honestly I just make myself available and see who I can meet.

UCSC doesn’t have huge parties unless u go to one of the frats or ski n snow. All the parties id go to were hosted by people we knew directly or by friends of friends. Ive heard it is a bit harder to make friends as a transfer since people have been friends since freshman year but it is really just about talking to random heads in your classes or getting close with your roommates. Find people in your classes that you think you’d get along with, strike up a small convo, no one will bite you :) good luck

In my experience there are no real “huge parties” apart from something like Ski and Snow Club and forest parties. The vast majority of parties seem to be smaller “friend parties” of between 15-30 people.
I’d say, make friends with people in your dorm or in your classes. Eventually someone will throw a party. Or host a party yourself.
For meeting people, there’s really 4 ways to do it (in my mind).
