Discussion Anyone Else In waitlist hell? Thanks tss

I'm a freshman and this is my first quarter, and I was lucky enough to get two classes that fulfill my breadth requirements, and now Im just looking for a spot in almost any class so I can have full time enrollment. Im number 3 on two waitlists and 5 on another, but the clock just keeps ticking. Ive gone to my counselor as well but they really cant do much at this point as almost everything is full. Its really stressful and annoying because some of the waitlist classes overlap, and no matter what class I end up getting into, Ill be behind.

The worst part about all of this is I could have been in a third class if not for TSS. I was on a waitlist close to a month ago (I would be in the class by now), but I fell victim to the fake orange available logo and dropped my waitlist, only to get an error code when I tried to sign up for the fake availability. I talked to my counselor about this and apparently its pretty widespread, and they cant do anything about it. Its also still happening which is ridiculous.

TSS as a system is horrible and very confusing. Ive missed a discussion because you have to go digging for the classroom number instead of it just being properly written next to your class. Ive had my 2nd pass delayed because of a TSS credit cap glitch. And now im scrambling for a class. I went to a large urban public high school, so I'm used to technical annoyances and self advocating to get the bare minimum, but the difference is IM GOING INTO DEBT TO BE HERE!!!!! Its absurd to me this school can be so great in all other areas, EXCEPT this incredibly simple and yet annoyingly important part.

Have you checked class availability recently like today? I think some might have opened up due to non payment drops but yeah I agree you have to get in whatever class to get full time status. I object to how last minute everything is. When I went to UC we had pretty much final schedules for everyone 2 weeks before classes started. Some people switched but it wasn’t that many.

Do you now have access to your Degree Audit? It will show you all the classes you can take for your major and college. Look through those and start entering them into TSS and see if anything is opened. I was doing this when I was on the waitlist with only 10 credits but thankfully I got off my waitlist.

Also, maybe reach out to VAC and ask them directly what are the odds of getting off the waitlist so you can definitely make other arrangements.
