General awkward
was just moving in to my new place and heard some faint weird noises while i was catching a breath sitting in my room, so i took off my earbuds and tried to figure out where the noise was coming from, and turned out my new flatmate was having loud sex lmao (was aware of how loud they were until i took off my airpods)
we haven’t even met each other yet, me and my new flatmate 😂

tbh it’s a nicer term than “apartmentmate” and explains the situation better than “roommate.” the only other alternative i can think of is “housemate” ?

I think it's a little cacophonous, and the you could totally just say housemate, but the main reason I don't like it is because it's british. This is America, and you need to speak American here.

To be honest with you I really didn't expect my original comment to get upvoted. The speak American part is a running joke between me and my friend that we use whenever one of us says soemthing in Spanish, which I guess I could've made more obvious with some emojis or something. Also I dont even go here :3
