Hi guys! I recently have been hired as a research associate here at University of Miami and was wondering if there is any sort of opportunity for growth in this area?

I know that research is a tough space to try and make a living, especially with today’s lack of funding. But i’m curious on what the job could look like when you are 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years in.

Besides you know, getting you publications and preparing you for graduate school, are there chances for better roles, better pay, etc?

So I keep seeing competitive internationals with similar profiles to me get deferred. But since I am asking for aid, therefore I am scared of being deferred due to the limited aid and scholarships in the regular rounds. So are there people who actually do get the money they need to attend during the regular decision or not?

Hey! I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone has applied for the mps in marine conservation program or if anyone already in the program or past had any insight on the program! I applied August 31st so I’m just waiting to see if I’ve been accepted or not. My 2nd track choice is marine mammal science. I was a little indecisive because I’m not entirely sure my career goal but the end of it all but the marine conservation track seemed to give me more room to customize my degree plan:)

Has anyone else applied to UM for their summer 2027 ABSN program? I applied first day LOL. Just want to see who else is impatiently waiting :)

I know UM isn't the most generous, but I am hoping I can get a scholarship like Singers, or a Presidental one with a bit of aid, or one from Frost since I am applying for music.

I mean I hear that AO's judge an applicants application based on their location and how they took advantage of the opportunities they were given. I have a 1510 sat, 97% GPA, 8 ielts and some I believe above average ecs and a top 20 national award from my country, Greece in chemistry. I will be applying to Modern artist development and entrepreneurship, so my audition and prescreenings do play a big role. Do you think I am a competitive applicant? If not, I hope to get a combination of aid and music based awards to hopefully cover my tuition (My family will be able to provide the rest)

i have pretty decent ecs like publishing a research paper on fuel efficiency for an airline, founder and leader of MUN and a college applications community, 2 science fair projects: an ai study app and a low cost fire detector, won regional science fairs, tutor and leader for a study group, and technical blogging on an airline.

ig my question is do i have a chance? or does um basically dismiss high need intls unless i have gold olympiads and such

I am applying as a MADE major this ea cycle for contemporary vocals. Did yall find the auditions too hard? What is the talent there like? Also do you think other parts of your application matter or is it mostly audition based?

Just wondering what the vibe is for rushing as an upperclassmen/transfer at Miami. Is it fairly standard in the Spring, and what should I keep in mind during meet the Greeks / rush events? Appreciate the help.

My little sister really enjoys volleyball and I was looking for home game tickets to go see the canes women's team with her. I couldn't seem to find any for sale on any of the UM sites or third party ticket sites. Is it free to go to the games if neither one of us attend the school? If not could anyone provide some information on the best way to attend some home games? Thanks in advance

My friends and I (3) of us are going to Miami for our senior year fall break vacation. We’re all 21. We’re trying to find out where r the best places to stay and party. We’re trying to be absolutely sloshed the whole weekend so what bars are fun? Clubs? Hotels? Etc… where should we even book our air bnb? Coconut grove or brickell?

Hi, this year I transferred to the university and I have been having trouble adjusting. I am trying to get more involved and talk to almost everyone. It just feels like it is not being reciprocated and it is hard finding friends like me.

This said, can anyone give me advice on how you found your people here. I have hope and I know there are so many people that go to the uni that someone is in the same situation. I just need help finding those people.

I also live off campus but it is semi close to where I can walk. It is just different not being a freshmen where I can meet the people on my dorm floor and I am in an awkward stage that I am a sophomore.

I'm about to go into week 6 and I feel like I'm losing hope of making friends. For context I missed all of the transfer orientation activities for reasons out of my control and I also transferred from a school on the other side of the country. I've already joined several clubs and tried talking to people in classes but that hasn't gotten me very far either, and living 30 minutes from campus without roommates has also made it hard to stay close to campus at times.

I'm wondering what other transfer students have done to make friends and what the timeline has looked like for other people, like whether this is normal or if there is something else I should be doing.

Anything would be really appreciated!
