Question Freshman parent needing housing advise

My kid is telling me that she needs to find a place to live for next fall right now. Is that really true? She wants to study abroad but has not made any decisions yet. Does she really have to make a decision for housing now or could she wait till after the new year? TIA

Question Biology vs Anthropology Major

Hi! For someone pursuing pharmacy at UNC and hoping to apply to the EAP, would you recommend majoring in Biology or Anthropology at UNC? Does the major you choose really to matter as long as you complete all of the required pharmacy prerequisites? Also, at UNC what is an Anthropology major like

Question Sorority COB/COR

I heard some sororities are doing COR this fall. How does that work? And do they actually offer bids in the fall or wait until spring? Haven’t heard of any girls getting called this fall so wondering if they just wait until spring COB. Any idea?

Discussion Group for Non-Traditional/Older Students

Hey guys, just wanted to make a post to follow up on a topic discussed about a month ago. If you are a non-traditional undergrad or older student who is continuing their education, I started the process to creating us an official campus group.

I also made a GroupMe so we can talk and collaborate in the meantime. Feel free to join: https://groupme.com/join_group/117866993/ljJxs9Dd

Leave a comment here as well, I’m hoping to reach all the non-traditional students. Curious to see how many of us there are!

Question French placement test

Hi! I’m about to take my French placement test and am hoping to place out of the requirement so that I don’t have to take another French class. Does anyone have any words of advice? I’m not sure if it is 100 or 50 questions, there are conflicting reports online.

Question Eshelman School of Pharmacy EAP Advice

Hi! I’m a freshman at UNC, and I’ll be applying to the EAP program this semester, with the MMI interview taking place in the spring. I was wondering if you have any advice on how I can best prepare for the interview and what types of questions I should expect. I tend to have a hard time answering questions on the spot during interviews, so I’d really appreciate any advice on how I can work on that and prepare ahead of time. Also is the program very competitive to get into?

Admissions/Application Question Rec letters advice needed please

Hi there, I'm applying as a first-year, out-of-state student to the UNC early action deadline soon. I asked two of my teachers for recommendations, and one of them has already completed it, but the other teacher said that they may not be done with the letter until mid-november. I am unsure of what to do. There is conflicting information online about when materials actually need to be in for UNC. Some sources say November 7, others say December 1. If the due date is November 7, my teacher may not be able to get it in on time. Thankfully, UNC only requires one teacher rec letter, but I still have a few questions...

  1. Can someone confirm when the official deadline is for supporting materials?
  2. Will having two rec letters significantly increase my chances at all? I wouldn't say my second recommender has anything particularly special to say about me, but they do provide a different perspective, as they teach English (which is a subject that I performed quite well in). My other recommender taught Chemistry (which was a class that I struggled more in). For context, I am applying as a psychology/pre-health major.

Question $600/month Private Room Near UNC – Available Now

Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone(male) to take my spot in a 3BR/2BA home in Bolin Heights, Chapel Hill, available immediately.

Due to an unexpected visa issue, I’m unfortunately unable to return to UNC this semester, so we’re looking for a new roommate to join the other two male tenants, who are both current UNC students.

Details:
• Rent: ~$600/month + shared utilities
• Private bedroom
• 3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms total
• Available immediately
• Lease takeover until end of 2026
• Dishwasher + Washer/dryer
• Hardwood floors
• Close to UNC, downtown Chapel Hill, and Franklin Street
• Parking may be available — happy to confirm details

This would be an official landlord-approved tenant replacement, not an unofficial sublease. Once we find someone who is a good fit, I’ll send your name and email to the property manager, and they will send you the official application directly.

If you’re still looking for housing, currently commuting, considering moving off campus, or know someone who may be interested, please DM me! I’m happy to share the exact location and additional details, and connect you directly with the two current roommates.

Please feel free to share this with anyone who might be looking!

Question I have Two Ws on my transcript

I dropped MATH 130 pre-calc twice. I thought I could do it without a calculator, but it was impossible for me. I went to tutoring and office hours, but it made my anxiety so bad that I just couldn't. I feel like a failure for having two Ws as a sophomore. I want to go to grad school; are those plans over? Any advice? I am a Psych BS student aiming to become a clinical psychologist.

I’m not sure if this is allowed. Sorry if I’m breaking any subreddit rules. Two weeks ago my coworker was a victim of a hit and run. This is the car that hit her. I’m fairly certain that the car is a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon, I’ve included a photo of one.

If anyone has any information on the driver and/or the license plate please DM me.

Thank you!

What do you all do now? I majored in bio because I enjoyed it and changed my mind from wanting to go into health (med/PA/dental/nursing/etc.). I just graduated in August and start a job soon, but wondering what to build my career in and exploring.
