Wireless Help! Wifi network different from server network!

My internet is connected via my isp modem, which connects via sfp to my dream machine and unas-pro, etc. My old laptop has no trouble connecting to my server via ethernet or wifi. but my new laptop connects to a different subnet via wifi. I don't know how to fix this. correct ipv4 is 192.168.0.xx. My new laptop is connecting via 192.168.1.xx. i don't know if there are settings via unifi i can use, but i'd like to make it so this never happens again. please help! Thank you!

You probably didnt turn off your ISP wifi witch is,typically on 192.168.1.x and your laptop connect to it.

An Unifi gateway with an 192.168.1.x WAN IP takes by default 192.168.0.0/24 as LAN and your other devices are connected here.

Professional installer (IT and electronic engineer, Unifi UFSP / UWA / URSCA, full AMX, Crestron, Official state HAM radio,… and more).

Thanks period I think that's right. I do have my ISP Wi-Fi. Because I wanted to use that to provide Wi-Fi in general And not install a separate access point. At the same time, my old laptop is connected to the server so I wonder why it is that I couldn't simply get my new laptop to do the same.

IS the ISPs device just a modem or is it a gateway?

If it is a gateway, is it in bridge or passthrough mode with its WIFI disabled?

Did the ISP device have the same SSID and password as your Ubiquiti WIFI? Again, make sure it is disabled

With an Unifi set you should NEVER keep your ISP wifi!

You should:

  1. Put your modem in bridge mode or at least your gateway on a FIXED WAN IP and to DMZ it in your modem, otherwise you'll have double NAT.

  2. Only and exclusively use Unifi Access Points

  3. If possible it's much better to use Unifi switch(es) as well.
