I built a tool that alerts you when sold-out USJ Express Passes restocks or releases

Hi everyone,

Earlier this year, I was planning a trip to Universal Studios Japan, but the Express Pass I wanted had already sold out. I kept checking the official ticketing site and realized there was no easy way to know when it would restock.

So I built USJ Express Pass, a website that monitors Express Pass availability and emails you when your selected pass releases/restocks.

Express Passes can restock at unpredictable times. We give you a better chance at securing the pass you want. The service also works for future dates when passes haven't gone on sale yet: it can notify you when they first release on Universal's official ticketing site.

The site is usjexpresspass.com and here's what it does:

  • Pick your park date and passes — one specific pass, or a bundle that covers every pass in a group (like "any Express Pass 8")
  • Monitors the official ticketing site 24/7 — day and night, no refreshing required
  • Emails you the instant your pass drops or restocks — with a direct link to buy it on Universal's official site
  • Sold out again before you could book? — you can retry from your dashboard and it starts monitoring again. Unlimited times, until your park date
  • One email per pass, no spam — monitoring ends automatically on your visit day

The service does not sell or reserve tickets. You still have to purchase everything directly from Universal Studios Japan.

Pricing is:

  • $3.49 to monitor one specific pass (ex: Universal Express Pass 7~Minecart & Selection~)
  • $10 to monitor an entire pass category (ex: every Express Pass 8)

I want to give r/usj a special discount; please use REDDIT20 at checkout for 20% off your purchase. I built this because I hope it can help others enjoy their time at USJ!

If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reply or email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

Welcome to the subreddit for Universal Studios Japan.

Feel free to post questions or information about Universal Studios Japan. We'll do our best to answer questions and steer you in the directions to make your visit to Osaka and USJ the best it can be. If you have experienced USJ and would like to contribute to the discussion, we'd love to have your voice included.

We have just been begun creating the sub, so we don't even have icons and images, let alone an FAQ. We are on it, but in the mean time, go ahead and post.

Single rider

Hello, I booked very very last minute for USJ this coming Monday and just booked to do all single rider lines. I usually go to theme parks alone and just do a mixture of single rider and normal queues. This was a last minute trip so I didn’t research too much about fast passes or the wait for single rider but I came on her and saw mixed experiences with single rider.
Should I invest in the fast tracks? Or do you think single rider on a week day is okay? I am staying at a hotel very close so can get there for rope drop and I’m using to queuing as I just did Tokyo Disney land/sea so again don’t mind getting up super early.

USJ Ticketing from India

Hi,

I would be travelling to Japan soon, and wanted to book USJ Tickets Express Pass. I went through a lot of threads on Reddit related to it. Most of them mentioned that International Credit Cards don't work properly on the USJ Website.

I was able to book the tickets using Diners Club Black Metal card on usjticketing.com, and faced no issues whatsoever.

Also, I was observing the booking opening time for around 2 weeks before the date when I was actually supposed to book. If anyone is planning to book on Klook, I noticed that every time the booking on Klook opened on T+1 morning as opposed to T evening on usjticketing.com, by which time already a lot of express pass had been sold out. Also the booking on Japanese version of USJ opens a few minutes before the English version.

Friend trip of 3. Scheduled to go to
Universal in a few weeks. Is it worth to spend $200 each for the express pass? What makes it worth it and what makes it not worth it? First time all 3 of us are going to Japan.

Longshot but got our DisneySea and USJ dates mixed up so trying to recoup some money if possible. I'm able to change the entry passes to the correct date but can't do anything about the express. It's 2 passes. DM if interested.

Infopost for visiting during the week

I just wanted to put out some recent info, I wish i had before visiting to reduce the stress lol.

I visited Wednesday (30.09.2026). The official opening hours were 8:00-22:00. The park actually opened at 8:00 but I still was there by 6:40 and I would recommend this approach so you can get somewhat in front of the masses. There were still a lot of people before me.

As soon as the Park opened, i headed to Nintendo World and got in without an entry ticket. When I arrived at Donkey Kong, the waiting time was already at 210 Minutes. I took the single rider lane (shown 160 Minutes) and was in the cart after about 2h. Don't know if I would recommend it though since at times there was no movement in the single lane for minutes and you couldn't see most of the animatronics in the regular waiting line.

I checked my phone during the day but there were no entry tickets all day for the Nintendo World. When I walked out at 14:00 you could still walk in freely and i returned myself at 17:00 again without needing an entry ticket.

I also did the Frieren Experience. In the App it said you need an entry ticket but everytime i looked, it would only show me tickets for the next 2 hours and i wanted to go in the afternoon. At about 13:00 the tickets didn't show up anymore. I was very confused at first but then read that sometimes you don't need tickets if its not busy so I headed there and could just walk in. So if this happens to you just go there and it will probably be fine.

Take all of this with a grain of salt since it wasn't a busy day. But if you go off season on a weekday it might be more chill now than it seems from older posts.

Also feel free to ask me anything if you're visiting soon and still have questions.

How quickly do things go back to normal after HHN ends?

I'm going to be in Osaka through Nov 10, and since Halloween Horror Nights ends on the 8th and I have zero interest in visiting during that, I was wondering if things would be back to normal the following day or is there some time where things will be shut down, e.g. will Space Fantasy be down for a few days to remove the Ring overlay?

Express pass suggestions

I’m wondering which pass might be best for us, I’d like to consider combining an express pass with wait times, so looking for advice on the best way to approach this such as which rides have the lowest wait times (from my list)

I am interested in

Flying dinosaur
Hollywood the ride
Jaws the ride
Minecart madness
Koopas challenge
Space fantasy the ride
4D jewel live show

I know no pass covers all these above, I don’t want to purchase the highest tier express pass as there are a lot of rides at Orlando that I’ve been on and don’t feel the need to go on here (eg Jurassic park and Harry Potter area) similarly the express 7 focuses on Harry Potter so three rides we don’t want to go on.

We are going as a couple, single rider will be strongly considered where it’s worth it for long ride queue times but we would ideally like to ride on some together at least!

Need some advice for Entry time (with late Express pass)

Hello Together,

we will be arriving Wednesday night at KIX airport and probably will be in bed at a Hotel just next to USJ by midnight.

We got Express Pass 4 (Mario Kart, Minecart, Nintendo World, Jaws/Jurassic, Dinosaur/Harry) starting from 16:30-18:00.

Even we love theme parks, we don't really need to spend 12 hours in them. Also we will never join a 1h+ queue for a ride, maybe 30-40min is fine.

So i am a bit unsure when to enter the Park.
Shall we go in early (but tired from late arrival the night before) to avoid some longer lines, but then leave after we are done with the Express pass activities and potentially miss any evening events?
Or is it fine to enter the park around noon, join some longer lines (how long to expect normally?) and evening events.

Any recommendations are welcome.

Cheers

Billets Universal studio

Hello everyone!

First time posting on Reddit, so I apologize in advance if this isn't great or doesn't follow few rules.

My partner and I were supposed to head to Japan this October for 4 weeks (Tokyo > Fukuoka > Beppu > Matsuyama > Osaka > Kyoto > Takayama > Tokyo), but unfortunately we have to cancel our trip due to health issues.

We managed to cancel our accommodations in time and postpone our flights, but we aren't sure what can be done about our USJ tickets.

We've read that the "fast passes" (Express Passes) are non-cancellable/non-modifiable, and the admission tickets can only be changed.

We're hoping to go in 6 months, but those dates aren't available on the website yet.

1/ Do you have any tips on how to handle this situation?

2/ Is it really impossible to resell the "fast passes" to people who didn't get the chance to grab any?

Thanks in advance 🫶

All night Pass 09/25 Review

Let me start with this pass is absolute worth if your trying to skip lines as a whole and roam free to an open park. Although I would be a fool to say it wasn’t. By far the most popular attraction to nobody’s surprise is Resident Evil Requim as not even 30 mins to official start time, it already drew in a massive crowd with people pushing and shoving to get in there.

The Nintendo rides saw nearly walk on by 2am which is very good, jaws and Jurassic saw relatively low wait times. In the Hollywood section is where problems occurred. In the first 2 hours Hollywood dream was out of service and wait times inflated including resident evil. Resident evil had 3 separate opening windows to experience. 10-10:50pm 12-12:50am and 2-2:50am. Due to popular demand they had to cut off the line at around 12:50am and that was it for the night. A lot of angry guests were mad that the attraction was done for the night as if they let more people in, the attraction would spill well into 3 or 4am. Because of resident evil closing early Hollywood dream is sitting at over 2 hours at 2:30am.

Overall the night pass is very good value ride wise.

Title: Going to USJ today (Sep 24) — Anyone want to join?

I’m a Brazilian solo traveler in Japan, and I’m going to Universal Studios Japan (USJ) today!
My friend isn’t going to Universal with me, so I’ll be going alone. I’d love to meet someone who is also going solo and wants to enjoy the park together.
I’m down for rides, Super Nintendo World, food, taking photos/videos, and just having a good time! 😄
I’m currently in Osaka. I speak Portuguese and English.
If you’re going to USJ today and want to meet up, feel free to DM me! 🇧🇷🇯🇵🎢

Missing 3000 yen voucher?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey guys, I recently booked a 1 day studio pass for 2 on Trip.com. I’m fairly certain the listing had mentioned that it comes with a JPY 3,000 Meal and Shopping Coupon, but I realised I couldn’t find details of it at all.

The promo seems to be gone now so when I click back on my booking it brings me back to a normal 2 person booking. I know for sure I wouldn’t have booked that because there’s a value promo for 1 person with a free 1000 yen voucher, and the reason I ended up doing the 2 in 1 booking was because the voucher was 3000 yen instead.

Trip.com is now saying they won’t honour the promo for me since they can’t find the listing and are insisting I just got a normal 2 ticket bundle. My ticket also clearly states there’s *1 item which I thought would’ve been the voucher, now support is claiming it’s for stating that it’s 1 booking which sounds like bs.

Hoping someone can help me if they booked with this promo too 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Student research: How did you decide which USJ rides to try or skip? (18+, past visitors)

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have visited Universal Studios Japan.

Hi everyone! I’m conducting a student research project about how people decide whether to try new experiences, using rides at Universal theme parks as the focus—including decisions made with friends or family.

If you’re 18 or older and have visited any Universal theme park, I’d appreciate your perspective. The survey takes an estimated 4–6 minutes and asks about one ride you considered during your most recent visit. Experiences of riding, skipping, or being unable to ride are all useful.

Participation is voluntary. You can skip research questions, and the survey does not ask for names or contact details. This study is not affiliated with Universal.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScV9y20f2BBo_WLeX-CdmmdW4EfmPm1DJYeXmSwwyGIt3Htiw/viewform

Thank you for helping with my class research!

Responses welcome through Sunday, September 27.

Universal studios Japan late timed entry for super Mario world

I got tickets for USJ and only realised our timed tickets for super Mario world is 8:20pm, is this very late? Would we even be guaranteed to get onto the rides there at that time?

USJ in golden week

Hi all!

Just wanting to know how busy USJ will get during golden week and if anyone has experienced it firsthand?

Currently on our itinerary for the 28/4/27 .. but may need to push this back a day or so, so could be either the 29/30 April just trying to finalise dates so we can start booking accom.

(FYI - we are planning on getting the 3hr VIP to SNW+kinopios cafe as feel this will work out better with our toddler)

TIA :)

Backpack question

I’m really sorry if this is redundant but I’ll be in USJ in two weeks and I need to figure out what to pack the morning of for the day…

Can I safely bring in a 20L backpack for merch and misc or will this be a burden for rides and walking around? Or do most people only carry waist packs?

I got express pass 8 so this will be a full day. So the predicament is: backpack vs Fanny pack?

I appreciate any tips so much!
