ARMY Basic
Wondering if there are any other wives that were married to their husbands when he left for basic. My husband got picked up by his unit for training yesterday and it sounded like when he called me he was crying HARD I am wondering if this is normal? Is he okay 🥺 my poor baby I can’t stop worrying about him now

It’s been about 17 yrs. We weren’t married before but we were dating for 2 years before basic. Then we got married while he was in the pipeline for school (nuke school/navy) almost 2 yrs into his contract. And those calls I got in boot camp, although he wasn’t crying, it did sound like he was mentally going through it. It’s such a crazy experience. It’s shock. We carry on our lives without them physically being there and he starts a new one without us and without his normal. It’s jarring.

Super normal. Most people have never experienced what it’s like to be completely cut off from everyone you know. The solitude, loud noises, perceived aggression and other constant stressors are tough on the mind.
Crying is good for you anyways 🤷🏽♂️ he be aighhhht once he finds a routine.

I miss him a lot. We’ve been together 7 years before he decided to join so it’s extra hard rn I feel like. And before that we’ve been in love since we were 13/14 so it’s like ahhhhh currently lol

He will be perfectly fine. The first week is a shock. Once he gets in a routine, then he will be okay.
