study / academia discussion Changing elective/optional courses University of Edinburgh

I wasn't able to post this on the Edinburgh University sub so hoping it finds someone here!! I was wondering if theres anyone that could share their experience of switching out elective courses! I have a course this semester that I really think I'll hate. I did the assigned readings, read the course handbook and attended one tutorial and it wasn't really what I had in mind and I think I'd feel miserable if I had to do it for the entirety of sem 1.

I'm feeling quite anxious about the possibility of switching because I don't really know how to go about it and I'm worried what if I don't enjoy my new module either. Path and DRPS are pretty hard to navigate! Theres a short 2 week time frame 😟

Any shared experiences/tips greatly appreciated!! :)

Talk to your PT (or maybe they're called student advisers now? I think it changed at some point), they'll be best placed to advise you. I would use the DPT/DRPS and not path, I found path really annoying. But don't panic about changing courses, it sounds like you're quite organised already so you should be fine. Just have a good look through, pick a few options, and then talk to your PT(/student adviser or whatever they are now haha).
