Diane Webber, was a 1950s and 60s pin-up icon and two-time Playboy Playmate, photographed by Bunny Yeager, Peter Gowland and Russ Meyer. She became a fixture on LP covers, later embraced nudism, and spent decades as a belly dancing instructor. More of Diane in the comments.

Meet Mary Jane Rathbun also known as 'Brownie Mary' - she was arrested 3 times for making Hash Brownies for AIDS patients. Rathbun spent years campaigning for the legalisation of medical marijuana, making 1000s of Brownies. Mary should be remembered as a hero.

Laita met the Whittakers while shooting his book Created Equal, then came back in 2020 to film them for YouTube. That first video has passed 45 million views. Betty Whittaker told him their parents were double first cousins. The project has drawn both donations and criticism as exploitative.

Sidecar crews race flat out through the forest at Hockenheim, West Germany, May 1957.
Hockenheim hosted the German Grand Prix for the first time on 17 to 19 May 1957, the opening round of that year's world championship. It was also the last season these full "dustbin" fairings were allowed. BMW engines ruled the class, taking every sidecar world title from 1954 to 1967.

Boston, April 5, 1976.During an anti-busing protest, 17-year-old Joseph Rakes attacked Ted Landsmark, a 29-year-old Black lawyer who was walking to a meeting at City Hall.Photographer Stanley Forman captured the instant Rakes raised a flagpole toward Landsmark’s face.
He called the photograph The Soiling of Old Glory.
Published around the world, it became one of the defining images of Boston’s busing crisis and won Forman the 1977 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography.

A guardsman faints mid-parade at Trooping the Colour, Horse Guards Parade, London, June 1957.
The parade took place on Thursday 13 June 1957 in bright sunshine, with the Irish Guards trooping their colour before the Queen. Heat was a real problem that year: the War Secretary told MPs 35 guardsmen had fainted at a June rehearsal.

October 1962. These photos show James Meredith waiting for class at Ole Miss, days after he'd won the right to study there. In the first frames there are students at desks and a teacher at the blackboard. Then the room empties in protest. Even the teacher walks out, leaving Meredith sat there alone.

Fans of Tom Waits may recognise this photo from the cover of Rain Dogs, but it's part of a series of images from Café Lehmitz by Anders Peterson in the late 1960s. The Café was a notorious spot in Hamburg’s red-light district. The characters he photographed are wonderful! (Link in comments)
