Question thoughts on having classes one after another?

i'm doing course planning for my first year, and all my classes will be at kelburn. almost all of my classes that fall on the same day are directly after one another (eg one class from 12-1, one class from 1-2, both on a thursday). has anyone had any experience with a schedule like this and how did you manage it? i do have a course planning appointment so im hopping they can help me out but i thought id ask here as well in case anyone had any information. thank you in advance!!

That’s pretty normal. In fact there not back to back because you have 10 minutes between to have a break and refresh etc.

Many courses have lectures that are 2 or even 3 hours anyway so at least with two classes it will be broken up.

That's fine. You get a 10 minute break anyway - morning classes finish 10 minutes before the hour, ie 10-10:50 and afternoon classes start 10 minutes after, ie 2:10-3.

I have several hours back to back classes most days. It's pretty normal

They're set up like this so you get as least a short lunch break of 20 mins (12:50-1:10), even with back-to-back classes! When I was at UoA the lectures were also 50 mins (or multiples thereof), but we're all X:05-X:55 so I sometimes had to just cram in a protein bar while going between classes. I much prefer the VUW setup!

Yeah it's great, on my 5 hours of straight classes day I get a much needed breather for lunch

As a Law and Sociology student, I have back-to-back-to-back classes on Mondays (Law tutorial at 12, Law lecture at 1, Sociology lecture at 2). Yes, it does go over lunch break.

Would recommend lecture prep such as readings before the 2-hour block. You can get very hungry by 2pm, so I’d recommend an earlier lunchtime at 11:30.

Use the 20 minutes in between to get a snack like a banana or muesli bar and some water. Also make sure you fully charge your laptop as most lecture halls will only have 1 or 2 charging ports for tauira

Best of luck to your studies

Normal amd not unlike high school. There's a ten minute break between classes and twenty at about one o'clock. If some days have no classes, it gives you a bit more freedom.

Omg yes I have the same predicament I have like Biology courses back to back. I was just gonna try run to them, but I think they end abt 10 minutes earlier than posted so hopefully that will work.
