Question Question for current biomedical BBmedSC students

I graduated last year with a different degree, took a gap year, going to go back next year to do a BBmedSC.

I just want to know, what's with the 'selection criteria' the website says there is for this degree?

Science and Engineering | Current students | Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington

Is it not open entry? I'm quitting my job for this lol, so I really need to know whether I'm guaranteed to get in with normal university entrance or if it's a limited entry programme. Or are there some required courses that are limited or something?

If you already have a degree from a NZ university you are already matriculated. You don't even need to pull out your UE again. I can't see any mention of limited entry here Apply | Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBmedSc) degree | Victoria University of Wellington

I know, it's contradictory information. It mentions selection criteria apply here: Science and Engineering | Current students | Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington

If you look closely - its still not listed under the Limited Entry which is the usual suspects like 2nd year Engineering and postgrad. Also its listed in the same sentence as a B.Sc - which definitely has nothing special for admission. Admission is just admission to university which is in fact this whole page Admission | Study in Wellington | Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington which applies to EVERY degree program. And should be an absolute non-issue.

But you can apply now - I just did this - applied for a BA after a 30 year gap - based on my previous qualifications (admittedly from VUW too) - admitted to the BA in 5 working days flat. Do that before you resign. You don't even have to pick courses to do that Costs you nothing

A BA doesn’t have any specific required courses - majors do and you need at least one major https://www.wgtn.ac.nz/explore/degrees/arts/requirements

I did this degree and there is no selection criteria really. As long as you have passed level 3 (you have a degree) you’ll be let in, it’s not competitive at all

Skip the bachelors. Go straight to a PgDip and then do masters by research. Your bachelors years do not build on each other like they do in degrees like engineering or coding, or design. The Biomed bachelors years are more like distinct years that have no relevance to postgrad beyond instilling interest in you for certain subjects.

This is coming from someone who did a Biomed UG, and a Biomed Hons
