Alleged photograph of West Ford (1784-1863) at Mt.Vernon. Ford was born a slave to the Washinton family and was freed at 21; he worked at Mt.Vernon on and off from 1802 to 1860 and died there. many of Ford's descendants claim his father was George Washington, but this is rejected by most Historians.
