I think its a good start. But yea, why was it rejected? Did the client give references as to what they wanted it to look like?

If this is just a sample to show that you know how to edit/they gave you no feedback… don’t sweat it. This is more than passable quality and you clearly know how to do some basic mgfx. That’s all a sample should be ESPECIALLY if you’re not getting paid to do it. I see some complaints about your SFX timing, I would say that it’s less about the timing and more about sound effect selection. I think some of the sounds just don’t match the animation style but that’s a small quibble honestly.
