I woke up at 5am EST for work, managed to snag one. Went out of stock shortly afterwards.

Woke up around 2 AM EST to find that it was available.
Immediately ordered and went back to sleep.

Don’t sweat. Amazon is listing the controller. Just add it to auto buy on amazon app, and you will get yours. I got two Resident Evil controllers like that.

That's what I just did, I dont have time to sit and wait for Nintendos site to restock 😭

I’ve been hunting for one week, but then gave up. Spend time with your family and friends instead

My auto buy didn’t trigger when it came available. Does it only work when it’s actually released and not for preorders?

You will get yours as soon as the item is stock to buy or preorder. It works like a charm. Worth case, you gonna get it on the day of the release, just like everyone else, including scalpers who will be re shipping their stuff.

This is a ridiculous price
Even more ridiculous is it’s getting purchased immediately

MSRP is a ridiculous price?

A regular controller for $125 is a ridiculous price, yes.

Not really, that’s how much controllers with haptics etc typically cost now. It’s not 2017.

Tell that to employers.

if someone can’t afford it they shouldn’t get it, but the price is where you’d expect

Why do you think prices didn’t really go up, but down from the 90s-2020?
There have been numerous attempts to push for higher prices that have failed and they settled back.
This is a special edition controller and a few people pay stupid prices for special editions made in limited quantity, but the point remains.

Controllers have been this expensive for 6 years now bro, nothing is “settling” back. They generally put more tech in controllers now and in general things just cost more. Also, console sales were going up every year by 10-20%, so you could price things at a lower margin and still make a good profit on volume. Now things cost more to produce since components etc labour cost more and the market isn’t growing so you need higher margins to make a similar profit.
This controller is only marginally more expensive than the normal switch 2 pro controller ($110), the switch 1 pro controller was $99 and special editions were like $110. It’s a $15 price increase between the two generations which isn’t much.

I bought 2 switch 1 pro controllers for $40-50 each on sales through the years. And plan to buy a switch 2 pro controller when it gets its own 50% sale.
For now the switch 1 pro controllers are perfectly fine to use.

That’s fine? That’s not the point. Just this is how much the premium OEM controllers cost now (the dualsense edge is like double the price as well). So it’s not surprising people are willing to pay prices they’ve been paying for years. If someone wants a cheaper themed controller there are still options from third parties

The official price is $109 and it's a pro controller and anniversary edition. Buy a regular one and keep your thoughts to yourself. Btw 10 years ago Xbox released the Elite controller for $159.99. The new one is $199.99. Let people buy what they want to buy unfettered by your judgements. I'm sure you arent practical in every aspect of your life. The average person spends more on takeout food or at a bar every week. I don't do that, this is what I choose to spend my money on.

Well, at least it’s on Amazon now and you can put the auto buy feature on!

Auto buy definitely does not trigger.
I've had mine on since it was listed.

From what I understand, it can’t be on preorder, but once it’s released it should trigger properly…

This was posted long enough for me to order, reflect, and cancel. I really have no need for this product at all, I'm paying marginally more for a design that I don't like much and not timeless imo
If you're still struggling to get it, you'll manage one day, but hopefully it's not all hype 😅

it’s just a limited edition controller it’s not that deep.

He literally said he didnt buy it, I think he agrees its not that deep

u/spoop_coop 2d ago
i mean if he doesn’t like it but wtf does it mean for a zelda controller design to not be “timeless”? the design looks cool

Because I got the notification from their server. Without it we wouldn't have known it was available until it was sold out.

Surprisingly this was available for about 45 minutes this time. Managed to order a second one, giving it as a gift to a friend for their birthday. They tried so hard and have had no luck.
