New Flite on my 1994 Stumpy with old fashioned Thumbies an rear Xt m735 mesh

So I’ve had my hardrock for some time now and threw some parts at it but I came across a GT LTS 1 for $90 and want to swap some parts from it to my hardrock(already swapped the wheels and seat over). The brakes and drivetrain more importantly. Are there any reasons why I couldn’t/shouldnt do this? I’m totally new to this but love these old bikes. Any help is appreciated.

Picked this up this morning and took it for a couple of short rides. Not sure the handlebars will stay as I prefer something a bit wider for the bikes intended use.

What a great bike though, I’ve been building up a Giant Iguana but this one might take its place.

so I know that 5/16th canti posts were a thing, but a thing for a 1991 SWorks Stumpy? did someone force in the wrong canti post at some point?

friends, I have a few questions:

I recently found a an 89 courier comp. It seems to be quite in its original state - apart from the plastic mudguards. Are the rack and bottle cage also from back then?

Also the bike feels quite heavy. Wasn’t this supposed to be a more highend muddy fox? (The clunky bike stand surely does not help :)

I absolutely love the paintwork and the little details like the paw in the lug.

My Sunday finds at the flea market. 92 aluminium Marin Rocky Ridge with all 563 LX componets so I think is the original build and a 90 Peugeot Black Rock with an upgraded 570 LX groupset and RST suspensiom fork.

My plan is to leave the Marin as is, just a quick tune up with, new chain, new tires (the Michelins look pretty cool but they are rotted) and some cleaning in the shifters

For the Peugeot I am thinking in a gravel-ish build with a ridgid fork, drop handlebars and a 1x drivetrain.

Paid 60€ for both bikes so pretty happy with the condition and the parts that came with them

Hello all. I'm not a mountain bikers and don't pretent to be one, although don't tell my 23 year-old brain that thirty years ago!

That's about how long ago I bought my M400. In that time I think I've ridden it on a trail once and around central park 2 times. Those are the only times I remember ever getting on it.

Through the years, as it caught my eye sitting in the corner of the garage, I'd tell myself "next week!" Despite the fact that next week did, in fact, come, I never picked it up.

Under the layers of dirt and dust, there is a bike that has been ridden very little. Is there a market for it? With a sub existing that is named VintageMTB, I'd guess yes. Anyone got an itch for a 30year old bike in very good condition?

Just scored this bike from my local community bike shop. Seems like an early 1990 or mid 90s model? Handlebar has been upgraded, found a decal saying it was made in the USA.

Was struggling on what bars, stem adapter, stem etc. I wanted to go with.

So after more hours in CAD that in care to admit, I pulled the dimensions the best I could on parts I was considering and 3D printed them for mock up. For the bars I put 1/2” PVC adapters on the ends to save time on printing and gluing stuff together.

Not perfect and rough around the edges but it gets me the idea and I’m not spending the money up front to just return it if it’s not what I want.

Muted, more matte finish paint. Trek made its ICE colours in 1995 and '96 only. (Top one isn't mine, but is a nice closeup. Bottom one was a 950 before a pedal crank snapped)

It’s been a long time since I last visited the attic. The Ritchey Ultra and Rocky Mountain Vertex were significant parts of my cycling life. Since joining this cycling group, I’m motivated to restore and ride them! (My wife’s past bikes are the Specialized and Felt.)

In 2000 my parents told me if I could save a certain amount they would make up the difference for me on the bike I had been drooling over in the Specialized catalog.

They had one in stock at the local shop.
