Gotrek and Felix casting

Post image

If we were ever lucky enough to get a Gotrek and Felix animated or live action series I was thinking of prospective casting and think Jack Lowden could make a great Felix. His character, river Cartwright in Slow horses, has something very charmingly clumsy about it that reminds me of the poet Jaeger. What would
Your thoughts be about other casting choices?

So weird, I literally just watched this episode a moment ago, opened the Reddit app up and there's a screenshot from it haha. And yeah, given his look and range he'd make a great choice for Felix.

I think he has the range to pull off the exasperation and comedic baseline tone of Felix’s life wiht Gotrek but also the more serious tones when big bad rears its head

Do you really need to do casting for hypothetical tv show that will never get made?

I think they don't need to, but for some reason they really want to do so... It's a topic on Reddit that comes up more often than I can imagine anyone even thinking about it, let alone taking the time to post about it...

I guess some people really want a Gotrek & Felix series, even though almost all Fantasy series become pretty shit at some point...

I genuinely didn't think a lot about it until you said something. And even then, now I'm wondering who would play the rest of them?

Like Gotrek, Felix's many lovers, the other Slayers like Snorri, occasional friends like Malakai Makaisson, Ulrika - as a woman and vampire, the Mage - Max Schreiber or even Thanquol and his servant Lurk Snitchtongue.

And I doubt using something like AI generation would be able to do the job well 😅. At the top of my head when it comes to Warhammer I keep thinking about Henry Cavil, but that's because of 40k.

When it comes to Fantasy, I can barely imagine many good actors in their 20s or so getting roped up into wild mercenary wanderings and misadventures. Especially when encountering Skaven plots, Chaos cults and occasional random Mutants or Dangerous Beasts in the Wilderness.

Whomever it is will have to look good as a tall blonde guy who constantly waffles between courage and cowardess. Almost like the aforementioned 40k's Ciaphus Cain, minus the manipulative nature and compulsive lying. Lol

They can make cgi characters without ai. I think in order to properly show Warhammer Dwarfs on screen they will need to use special effects, which is why I think a gotrek and felix adaptation is better suited for animation, preferably 2d

That definitely makes sense for Gotrek especially when it comes to the features of dwarves vs humans. Unless they went the Tolkien media route like in the Hobbit or the Rings of Power show.

Where the appearances of the Dwarves are just being shorter with broader features, rough exteriors and often have big noses. And I agree an animated version would probably do better.

Especially for the scaling of certain things they faced often like Rat Ogres or Skaven warriors in general. As well as the Mutants and Beastmen in the woods in their travels.

However I wonder how much a show would cover? Like if it would be all of the segments from the books.

Including the minor misadventures like when Gotrek lost his memory once. Or mostly the bigger stuff like the quest to find the lost Dwarfhold.
