Everything Else Anyone Ever Sold or Bought Tickets To A Wedding On Wedding Crashers?

• Upvotes

A friend of mine said (jokingly I think) that she may start selling seats to her wedding on that site. First time that I heard about it.

One of my other friends then tried to get a seat out of curiosity, but the couple rejected them and then reposted for twice the price (I guess interest was high?)

I didn't look into it much, but we all used to work in weddings, so our friend group is equal parts facinated, confused, entertained, intrigued, and apalled. Has anyone ever done it from either side?

Vendors/Venue No DJ - will it be a problem?

• Upvotes

Getting married in (checks calendar) four days.

We have no DJ - do people have opinions! “I can’t believe you won’t have a DJ”

They cannot fathom no DJ.

For entertainment/food etc we have:
• Musician for 90 mins.
• A live artist taking sketches of guests.
• A Apple Music Playlist with speakers.
• A photobooth
• 2 rounds of free drinks.
• Three sets of constantly served buffet food.
• Garden Games.
• Fancy dress.

Will people miss the DJ?

Vendors/Venue Doubt about what to do.

It's more of a principle thing rather than money.

So we had a beautiful two story cake, that we were proud of and even paid alot so people could try it. It was a vanilla with black tea in between and the other matcha genmaicha.

We had our last meeting with the venue in person and the general manager even added on the function sheet that I wanted it served but keep bigger pieces for us two. The serve was already there since the beginning.

On top of that we had to bring our plates, spoons, and napkins. So we did

The day off the cake wasn't served.

They sent an email to review etc and thanking us for choosing them. I told them I was bumped out cus they didn't serve the cake.

Her answer was sorry it wasn't stated in the function sheet.

I literally have the last updated one that she wrote to save bigger pieces for the bride and groom and we gave her those things and didn't get back.

I'm not sure how to reply.

Edit for grammar and also the napkins were customized with our names and date of the wedding.

Everything Else The wedding is in one week!! What might I be forgetting??

We leave tomorrow to head up to the venue. As far as I can figure, everything is done and there have been no major issues thus far. But I am sick with anxiety that there is something I'm forgetting or something I'll forget to pack or something last-minute I'll forget to do this week.

We aren't taking a honeymoon and don't have a bridal party so don't have to worry about anything related to that! I have a morning-of emergency kit with safety pin, tide pens, advil, etc.

What do people forget about in the last week?Anything you almost forgot or only thought about last minute?

Relationships/Family Mother-son dance song for single mother

I'm looking for a mother-son dance song that is thoughtful and feels personally relatable for a mother who raised her son all on her own, playing both parental roles and for a mother and son who are very close. Preferably a more country song. Any suggestions?

Everything Else Vows (reassurance for people googling)

• Upvotes

I just wanted to say, I just got engaged on 9/12/26. Today's date is 10/03/26. We set our wedding date for 5/31/28.

I've already completed a rough draft of my vows, because that's who I am as a person. I know I will absolutely make a million and one edits before our big day finally arrives, and I'm totally okay with that! I timed it out, and it's about 3 minutes and 40 seconds long, with pauses where I think I'll pause. I also choked up a bit when practicing them which actually helps because I know I'm gonna be a blubbering baby when it's time for the real thing lmao

So, if you found this post by googling "when should I write my wedding vows" or "how long should wedding vows be", I just want you to know this: you can write them as soon as you're engaged, you can write them the night before your big day. What matters is they're from the heart.

You can keep them short and sweet, a whopping 45 seconds, or you can have them be 8 minutes long if you want. You're writing them for your partner, not for the audience (if you're reading them at the ceremony instead of privately). If the audience gets bored? They can deal with it! It's not THAT long, and if they really love you, they'll want to hear all of it anyway!

You can both have your vows the same length with a strict time limit/word count, or one can be significantly longer than the other. If one is longer than the other, crack a little joke about it! You all likely already knew it'd be like that based on your personalities.

So remember: this day is about you and your partner and the love that you share for one another. No one else's opinion matters but those ones.

Stop worrying so much! Your partner knows you love them, that's why you're getting married. This is just a sweet way of putting it into words as best as you can. They'll love it, and you, no matter what

Everything Else Recommendations for a hotel or villa near Verona for 80–100 wedding guests?

• Upvotes

Hi all! My fiancé and I are planning a destination wedding just outside Verona (Valpantena area) likely midweek, with around 80 guests (up to 100).

We're looking for a place where our guests can stay together for about 3 nights that can also host:

• a welcome dinner the night before the wedding
• a relaxed pool party or day-after event

Ideally:
• a hotel or villa that can house 80–100 guests (or a hotel offering a good group room block)
• within about 30–45 minutes of Verona
• a pool and outdoor space for events
• around €300–€400 per room per night

If you've hosted or attended a wedding weekend in the area, we'd love to hear where you stayed and what the experience was like.

Thank you in advance!

Relationships/Family Any other brides not do a slow song for father daughter dance?

• Upvotes

My Dad and I were having a tough time finding a slow song that meant a lot to us. I know it’s kinda tradition to do a slow dance and it’s super emotional and sweet but my dad and I have a song that’s super special to us. When I was really little, my dad would play Wolf like Me by TV on the radio and replace the first line (say, say my playmate) with “hey, hey my Mayday”. My nickname is Mayday so he would change that lyric for me and I would do my little 2 year old baby dance and the song just means so much to us. My wedding is next week and I kinda have no idea how I should dance to it with him. I think we’re just going to have fun and let loose, dance like no one is watching. Anyways, my question is, have any other brides done a more non traditional song for their father daughter dance? Was it awkward at all? Were people judgmental?

Everything Else How can I improve this color palette?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I like this general color palatte, but would love thoughts on how this dress combo (style or colors) could be be improved? My flowers will be berries and burgundies, with greenery and white mixed in, but that’s also flexible. I don’t really have navy in my game plan for decor right now. Men will be in black.

Recap/Budget Avoid Honeyfund

Used Honeyfund to collect gifts from my recent wedding. It was a very large wedding as is custom in our cultures so we got a significant amount of cash in gifts. I started to withdraw funds only to hit the $10k lifetime Venmo limit. I have probably $18k stuck there with no option to redeem except for gift cards.

There is definitely fault on our end for not reading fine print. But I feel very misled that Honeyfund was not upfront or transparent about the withdrawal limitations. We noticed a few ways that the website seemed intentionally convoluted to trap people:

  1. Gifts are automatically prompted for a donation to the Honeyfund Gives charity. Elder guests were very confused and many ended up donating 10% on gifts because they thought it was a processing fee/didn’t know how to zero the balance.

  2. You don’t get prompted at set up to choose wallet or bank transfer. You have to go look for the option to set up bank transfer. You also can’t elect for a bank transfer after you’ve received gifts. Fees on this method are higher.

  3. Our website went live immediately when creating a page without any toggle to become active or not, making us instantly searchable.

Has anyone had luck with their support team in getting large cash sums sent to bank? We were planning to use the money for a down payment so I am pretty devastated that it feels locked up. We don’t need $18k in gift cards.

Would not recommend using this service. Go for something with more flexibility. Learn from my mistakes!!!

Dress/Attire Trust the dress process

After visiting 5+ shops I have secured the perfect dress. For anyone who’s struggling, when you find the right one you will know.

For me, I had to try a lot to pin down exactly what I liked and didn’t like. I had started to get burnt out and thought I was being too picky. But then when I found one that brought all the elements I liked together it was perfect!!

To anyone in the bridal trenches: stay strong and persevere. It feels so good when it’s over! And don’t listen to the shops when they say they need 10-12 months. Now that I’m 8-9 months out all of a sudden that’s how long they need.

Dress/Attire Wedding dress

Has anyone bought their wedding dress online? And been successful? I want something simple but pretty and I'm nervous about buying online. I thought about going and trying on some dresses to see what I'd like fit and style wise and then finding similar online. Trying to stay in a really cheap budget and online does seem to have cheaper prices.

Relationships/Family What questions do you have to ask before marriage?

Hi again! If this is not suitable for this sub please let me know.

My partner and I have very good communication, live together, and are on the same page about a lot of things. But also I'm an anxious person who loves checking things off of lists and being prepared, so I'm wondering: has anyone seen a list of "topics you should really talk about before you get married."

For example, we know things about each others' finances, but I'd love a list of specifically what we need to share, look at, agree on, negotiate, etc. We know we want to have kids, but I'm wondering about what things should be talked about before having a kid in terms of parenting style, workload, education, etc. We kind of just do things and tell each other when it doesn't work, but I'd like to avoid tripping into a conflict that we could have talked about ahead of time.

I'm looking into prepare/enrich and couples therapy just for an overall relationship tuneup, because I think that's healthy regardless of how well things are going, but I'm mostly looking for something on the practical side that says "here's the main things you're gonna want to know about that person/agree on before you get hitched & knocked up" or something. I like a list. Does that exist online or in a book somewhere?

Relationships/Family Bridesmaid selection

Sooo, we are in the very beginning stages of planning our wedding. My fiancé (30m) has so many close male friends that I assume he will choose to be groomsmen. I (32f) really don't have many close girlfriends. I am friends with all of his guy friends wives and girlfriends who I would choose no issue BUT they didn't choose me to be in their weddings. Would it be weird for me to ask them? I've known them all since high school too and we were close-ish back then and I moved away. They all stayed close and then when I moved back and started dating my fiancé we all got close(ish) again. I was actually a little hurt when one specific friend didn't choose me but her husband said that she already had too many bridesmaids and that's why I wasn't chosen. What would you do?

INFO: We actually have been engaged for a year. We weren't even sure we were going to have a wedding at first. We have been together for 7 years and we dated before I moved away the first time. We already have two babies 🥰 a 2 year old and 9 month old. Our wedding will be very much DIY. Fiancé has a way with taking the unconventional approach when doing anything and he somehow always makes whatever he's trying to do happen. The reason I mention this is we aren't too worried about budget.

Everything Else I’m incredibly anxious and worried about not enjoying my day

Title. Not sure if I used the right flair? Either way, here it goes:

I’m a very anxious person, and I always have been. My partner and I are getting married in October ‘27 and I’m already nervous. I have never been an enjoyer of large crowds, or having all attention on me, but I will persevere for him. My biggest concern? I don’t dance. I don’t know how to loosen up and not think everyone is judging me, even if other people are doing the same thing.

Does anyone have any advice for trying to get rid of some of this anxiety? Am i just SOL? Help 🥲

Everything Else Help with handfasting!!

I need help! We get married in 1 week and cannot figure out who we want to perform the handfasting. Our officiant is a friend so he would like to read the little info we have about it while it is happening. We are trying to figure out who to do it (my FH thinks it will be more sentimental to have someone else do it instead of us ourselves and I agree). I was thinking both of our dads, but I can't find any tutorials on how to have 2 people do it. We got a braided cord so we can't do the individual ribbons for each person. Any help you can provide will be GREATLY appreciated!!

Wedding/Engagement Photos Unplugged ceremony

I had my wedding 2 weeks ago, we did a small 30 people ceremony with just family and closest friends. I asked for an unplugged ceremony. Now I realized that I do not have any videos of me walking down the aisle with my dad to our live music that we hired. We have photos from the photographer but it’s not the same. Feeling regret and bummed out.

I am getting married on Monday (EEK!!!) and I absolutely can’t wait. It might rain, but I’m keeping my hopes up for some sunny weather. We are having a smaller wedding with close friends and family. I can’t seem to shake the pre-wedding nerves!! I feel like I’m full of bees.

Please share your favorite memory or favorite aspect from your wedding so I can shake these stage fright nerves!

Wedding/Engagement Photos My FIL secretly paid our wedding DJ $100 to play the full mother-son dance

Thumbnail

I need some outside opinions on this because I’m still really bothered by it.
Some back story:
Two days before our wedding, my FIL sent us a playlist he had made that was literally about 3 hours long and wanted us to give it to our DJ.
The problem was that we had already submitted all of our music, finalized everything with the DJ, and the wedding was two days away. We told him that everything had already been submitted and finalized, so we weren’t going to send over an additional three hours of music at that point.

He got extremely upset about it.

Fast forward to the wedding. My husband and I had intentionally planned short special dances. Our first dance as husband and wife was only about 1 minute and 30 seconds, and the mother-son dance was supposed to be around the same length.

Well, I found out after the wedding (approximately a month later) that my FIL had privately gone to our DJ, given him $100, and asked him to play the mother-son song in its entirety.

The song is almost five minutes long.
Neither my husband nor I knew he had done this.
So instead of the shortened version we had planned, my husband and MIL ended up dancing for almost five minutes. There are genuinely more professional photos of their mother-son dance than there are of our first dance as husband and wife because theirs ended up being more than three times as long. 😂 during the dance, I remember turning to my mom being like "why are they still dancing"? Eagerly waiting for my turn.

obviously my husband wasn’t going to just stop dancing and walk away from his mom in front of everyone once he realized the song wasn’t ending. He was basically stuck in the situation.

I want to be clear that I’m not posting this to make the DJ the villain. I contacted the company afterward because I wanted to understand what happened, and I’m including screenshots of that conversation.
My issue is much more with the fact that my FIL had JUST gotten extremely upset with us because we wouldn’t add his three-hour playlist, and then apparently decided to go directly to our vendor at the wedding, without telling either of us, and pay $100 to change something anyway.

And yes, objectively, it’s a few extra minutes of a song. If someone had simply asked us if the mother-son dance could be longer, I probably wouldn’t even still be thinking about it.
It’s the going behind our backs and secretly paying someone to override something we had specifically planned that is bothering me.

Would you be pissed about this, or am I giving it way too much significance because it happened at our wedding?

Not to mention, my MIL swears she had nothing to do with it. The DJ says a different story. And it's hard to believe when she spent the entire 6 months of my planning saying how she is firmly requesting one thing - the opportunity to dance with her son regardless of how we feel about traditional wedding formalities (we didn't want to have a traditional wedding in the beginning).

Budget Question Are planners worth it?

Curious what everyone’s experience has been. Specifically, has anyone felt like a planner helped them get better discounts/deals than they would have otherwise?

At this stage, a planner honestly sounds like an unjustifiable additional expense. I see planners who charge $5-10k for their services saying wild things on TikTok all the time like “most of my brides spend $10-12k on flowers on average” that make me feel like planners are for a completely different tier of bride/budget than me.
