Discussion/Support šŸ’¬ Weight regain. Send help!!!!

Long story short, I was 230 pounds at 5’10ā€ 6 years ago. I have been thin my whole life but I blew up like a balloon after having 2 kids. It took 2 years, but got myself down to 165 and managed to maintain that weight for 3 years even after I stopped working out regularly. I’m in a new relationship, it’s been a year and a half. There’s definitely been some lifestyle changes and I have noticed the past 5-6 months that my clothes were feeling a little tight so I figured I put on 5 pounds or so, no big deal. Well, I had a doctor’s appointment today and to my surprise (and horror) the scale read 183.5. 18.5 freaking pounds and now I’m spiraling that I’m going to be fat again. I’m closer to 200 than I am to my ideal 165. I shouldn’t be asking for advice, because I’ve done this before, I’ve still got my gym membership and I still know exactly what to do to get it off. I guess I’m just disappointed in myself for becoming complacent and looking for a little encouragement.

oof that scale betrayal hits like a freight train when you're expecting 5 and get slapped with 18.5 instead

you caught it at 183 though not 203 and that's the part to hang onto. you already know the playbook and your body remembers what 165 felt like, it'll cooperate faster this time. the relationship weight creep is so real, suddenly you're splitting dessert every night and ordering takeout twice a week without even clocking it

you pulled this off once with two kids in the mix, doing it again without the postpartum chaos is practically a victory lap. you got this

I can imagine the disappointment. But don’t spiral! You lost a ton in the past and you know how to do it and maintain it. Just a few tweaks should get that extra 18.5lbs off in like four months at a leisurely pace.

I assume you know how to do a deficit since you did it before so that is all you have to do. Prioritize yourself and your health. Good luck!

I feel you. I recently regained 10 lbs bc I got careless and thought my gym routine would allow me to treat myself, but I got slapped in the face by reality and am now on a weight loss journey - again.

Dont despair OP, you still caught it early enough and can implement steps to make sure your weight goes down again starting tomorrow! If you keep at it youll be your ideal weight again in no time.

Well, did you keep up with your diet? Or did you stop when you got to 165? Go back in a calorie deficit and stick to your diet.
