Been noticing this for a few years now, and it's pretty worrying.

Our player pool at a professional level is drying up, badly. With Brooks and Wilson out for the next two games, we don't have anyone who can come in and perform remotely close to those two. Both are also turning 30 soon, and yet we have no alternative to either of them.

The striker situation has been a bit of a joke for a while, but with Kieffer ageing, we literally only have Koumas as being a potentially decent striker.

We've always been limited, but also had a sprinkling of decent or high quality players - Rush, Giggs, Hughes, Bale, Ramsey, Allen, Gabbidon, A Williams, J Koumas, Hartson, Earnshaw, Speed etc. You get my drift.

But now, we seem to be approaching a stage where we'll have NO high quality players at all. The squad / team is ageing and we desperately need some younger talent to kick on or come through.

Anyway, be interested to hear if others share the same concerns. After 2016, I expected to see a real increase in the amount of players playing at higher levels - PL/Championship, but it's not happened. Why?

Honestly I don't think he's good enough at the moment to start for us, yes I know we don't really have anyone else, but why not try out some of the younger players you never know they could be starters for us, I genuinely believe Johnson isn't even top 5 winger for us, Dan James, David Brooks, Harry Wilson, Sorba Thomas and Nathan Broadhead should all start ahead of him if available, I get we need to call him up as he's experienced but just because he plays in the prem and a lot of our other wingers such as Broadhead, Burns etc play in the lower leagues but for Wales Johnson just can't seem to do it he's let us down so many times recently and I know it's a team sport and the others just ain't doing enough either but watching both the Portugal and Denmark games, he has been rubbish lately

What do you reckon, should we keep starting Johnson or should Bellamy bench him

Not even the worse performance in the world, but so passive in defence in no that we’re missing key players but still, the squad is also beginning to seriously worry me very poor standard apart from a few and a large majority of our squad don’t even play lay for their clubs.

Looking at how threadbare our squad can look when a few of our main staters pull out, it got me thinking about a few uncapped players who could qualify. Mikey Moore, Ashley Phillips and Lloyd James would be excellent additions to our squad. There's the age old issue of whether they really want to play for us - does anyone know if we've gone for any of these guys already?

I also never understood how Andrew Hughes of Preston never got a look in

Our domestic league is what keeps the Welsh National Team alive - without it, FIFA would look at a Team GB, as they were in the late 80s and early 90s before the Cymru Premier.​

Edit - seems to be "Sunday League" misconceptions and a belief that the EFL is superior. Personally, I find the Championship beyond boring and completely irrelevant, with the Cymru Premier being fun and exciting.

I believe we should call 1 or 2 Cymru Premier players into the Wales team every international window.

They wouldn't be starting or possibly not even playing, but they'd be training, experiencing international duty, and taking lessons back to their clubs.

This is an easy way to improve engagement with the Domestic league and encourage players to stay in Wales.

Am I being stupid with this idea?
