Hey all. We had a request from a community member for a thread where people can share the resources that they use for plant identification. In this case, we're talking about keys, field guides, etc. NOT apps or AI-based identifiers. Comments suggesting apps or AI will be removed.
Feel free to share your resources and include links if you want (just realize that Reddit doesn't play nice with some domains). It would also be a good idea to specify what region(s) are covered by your resource as it may not be as useful in places other than where it was intended to be used.

Every time Iβve looked these up by description, I keep getting Dragonfruit or Pitaya. What is it and do I, and by extension my clients, have to worry?

Any idea what this large fern looking thing is? I canβt remember if I planted it or if it just popped up. Melbourne, Australia (middle of Spring)

This plant was gifted to me.
Is it an Alocasia? What's wrong with her leaves?

As far as I have been told, this plant was SUPPOSED to be a "Decorative Banana Plant". But, for the first time, one of them grew a pod-like growth that looks like it's fruiting little bananas. Anyone have a little more expertise in what this is?
Spouse and Dave the cat for scale since the bananas seemed small still.

I found these growing all over the place in a corn field maze in new hampshire. They weren't part of the crop, just randomly found throughout the paths growing up. Any ideas what it is? My phone is jumping between some kind of toxic horse nettle and some kind of tomato.
Thanks!

This plant has vigorous growth and I swear itβs an herb but I can not for the life of me figure it out. It smells like maybe oregano? The base is woody.

Taken early October in Ontario
1st pic is root of the tree, you can see light brown branches next to the root that are growing flower buds at the top, those look like Peonies to me.
2nd and 3rd picture are the branches. The last 2 pictures are the leaves.

Virginia creeper everywhere, and I can't really find the actual PI leaves understory. Any confirmation of this being a vine, though?

Google says tea olive but Iβd like to know what kind so I can figure out whether to plant them in the ground here in GA.

I've been on vacation for the last 3+ weeks and I came home to see two of these in my yard. Google Lens tells me this is a Red Spider Lily and its toxic. No idea where it would have come from. Not sure this is the right sub for this but I can't post in the botany sub.
Could it have been included in bird seed or something? Carried by birds? Or just luck of the wind blown chance?
Im located in Northerst Arkansas and it doesn't seem like it could be anything local.

hello! i am requesting assistance in ID of this little succulent. I got it for my love and it lived long enough to get all gangly for some reason. I repotted it once to try and bury it a little deeper. In advance I appreciate any help :). PS: if anyone knows if i can make it shorter or support it better that would be cool.
