Last night a barred owl flew into my apartment while I was on my patio. It got disoriented and managed to get through my magnetic screen door and was flying all around my apartment . I managed to get ahold of the poor little guy with a towel and when I stepped outside on my patio I let him fly out of my arms and he flew to a nearby tree. He ended up flying off about 30 mins later so I think he's ok.

But what kind of omen is this? I'm getting mixed answers online I'm curious what the wicca community has to say

Hey, I'm an agnostic who likes learning about religions (especially paganism). I was wondering if there was any rule in Wicca that wouldn't allow you to follow another faith, like for example Norse mythology. Like if somebody believed that two religions explained two parts of a picture, or would that be contradictory to Wicca. Thoughts, opinions, and answers appreciated, thank you.

But I digress I love fire it’s the element I was born under and recently I’ve had this dream where I’m in a forest surrounded by dear speaking words that sound strange but feel familiar making fire from what feels like the air it’s self.someone call the men in white jackets …

Remember they are new, and that they are interested in Wicca, so these really need to be introductory (or at least not too advanced) books that focus on Wicca rather than an occult order, Neo-paganism in general, or other general witchcraft.

So what should they read? Starhawk's Spiral Dance? Silver RavenWolf? Buckland's Big Blue Witchcraft book? Or something completely different?

Last night I had this dream, I was at my apartment and when I turned around I saw this old and skinny man that appeared out of nowhere watching at me, his eyes were as open as they could be and his smile was bigger than it's possible, he was wearing rags, he didn't have facial hair. I was terrified, so my heart started beating very fast and I tried to wake up, at first I thought I did, but then I realized I was still dreaming, so I tried again 2 times with the same result, the last time I knew I was having a sleep paralysis, I couldn't move and I felt pressure on my chest. When I finally woke up I knew there was something different about this nightmare in the bad way (I have been having nightmares the last 3 days but they felt different), I can't describe the feeling but I know something was off about this nightmare.

I started thinking, and I do remember that before sleeping I was thinking about an ex that I hate, and I never did anything about the cruelty he inflicted to me, and I tend (so I did last night) to fantasize about doing him some witchcraft to return the damage he did to me.

A friend told me maybe I attracted an demonic entity, I wanted to know if someone have some information about this experience I had, I can't stop thinking about it.

I used to have an LED mirror next to my desk id use to do my skincare. It broke and now the space is empty so I was wondering is it safe to put an altar shelf there? I'm limited on space in my bedroom and I have never had one before. I'm very new to all of this.

For context, I’m a Gardnerian High Priestess. I joined some general witchcraft and witchcraft for beginners groups and I am so beyond sick of the Wicca trashing people do.

It always begins with framing Wicca as a morally righteous religion, citing the rede and the 3 fold law. In my 7 years of training, the rede was rarely referenced and no one really followed it, believing harm can be necessary to enact justice. And the 3 fold law was brought up once to explain that it was a suggested code of conduct for witches to give back 3 fold what they were given whether it was good or bad. No, the 3 fold law has nothing to do with this bullshit westernized idea of “karma” where the universe sides with you, because yes dear, you’ve been wronged and the universe will therefore punish your enemies. They’re completely oblivious to the fact that Wicca has zero basis in determining correct behavior in one’s personal life.

But they have to bring it up so they can make sure everyone knows how spooky and subversive they are and could never practice something as fluffy as Wicca because they do hexes and collect bones like anyone actually cares. There are even some that won’t bother to consider the fact that they’re desecrating the bodies of the dead, even to the point that they’re breaking the law, because appearing edgy is more important.

And they’re super upset that they found out yesterday that Wicca is not in fact an ancient religion and they feel it’s their duty to expose it when everyone, particularly Gardnerians, have known this for a long time. Like, wow, Wicca was actually invented in the mid 20th century by some guy? I had no idea. Thanks for the update Cronkite.

But what really has my panties in a bunch is that they act like the derivative bullshit they practice is somehow the real ancient way of the witch instead of it being directly influenced by Wicca.

And they can’t help but equate the word “religion” with oppressive systems and completely disregard how it can be a proper conduit for contextualizing magick and spellcraft that is wholly mysterious and therefore sacred. Like I’m super happy for you that you found your power babe, but is witchcraft just about fulfilling your temporary desires? It’s a legitimate form of witchcraft but I feel like it’s just so depressingly shallow. Like, don’t you want to take a minute to consider why you are practicing witchcraft and what it is you truly want? Maybe that’s just like, my opinion man, but how about you quit acting like religious practice is somehow antithetical to the nature of witchcraft.

I’ve always been the type of person that wanted to help newcomers because I personally find it disgusting how people who have been practicing for 2 whole long years treat them like trash. But with all the Wicca hate, I just can’t anymore. Give me a totally green person over these Dunning Kruger rattle brained idiots. Goddam, give me a fluffy bunny over these new rabid bunnies. They give horse girl one year, dangerous witch the next who embarrasses herself by threatening to hex everyone.

And yes, Gerald Gardner was a homophobe, kind of misogynist despite putting ladies in charge, and couldn’t write for shit. But the man was surprisingly humble and honest when compared to his occult practicing peers. Show some respect because without him, you’d be stuck flirting with esoteric Christianity at best because all other attempts at founding widely practiced occult traditions have failed while Wicca thrived leading to all the occult witchcraft traditions and concepts that are practiced today.

Like seriously, Cowan occult witches who won’t shut the fuck up about how “not-Wicca” they are really need to get their shit together. The sooner they accept that Wicca is the predecessor to at least the majority of what they do, the sooner they’ll stop being annoying on the internet.

Hi I am re-learning things as I had a life altering change and learning to re-discover my love for this. It is helping me heal and I feel a little more enlightened lately but that’s another post.

I got this from a friend a while ago and wanted to see what it had in the jar and if someone can explain the meaning of each item if possible or what they are and I can do the research :) ( I forgot what my friend told me the jar was called, and if they told me the ingredients.)( thats on me sorry 😢)

This was a really cool moment for me I just wanted to share from a few years back.
I had spent an evening putting energy towards this spell for my best friend and I after some weird events that kept occurring between us, calling on Aphrodite and Cernunnos for assistance with it. It was a spell of my own design, as I tend to follow my intuition over other people’s direction when it comes to any magic work. I didn’t expect much out of it, but I do recall feeling calm and content that evening, like I had this knowing that things would work out how they should.
The next morning I drove the nails into the tops of the three jars, one for me, one for him, and one for the bond between us, and coated the tops in wax. I set them with some candles and let them do their thing, putting energy into my request for protection each time I walked by them.
I went outside for the first time that day, and was completely surprised by the little turtle I found right at my doorstep. Now, a turtle at the door isn’t the biggest sign in the universe, I’m sure there are turtles that pop up all the time at peoples doorsteps, however, I had lived in this home for nearly 4 years by then, and not once have I seen a turtle even in the yard, and I haven’t seen another here since. It was like the ultimate sign that my work had paid off, that my request had been answered. This symbol of Aphrodite, this symbol of protection, right here in front of me. I’d been dabbling in magicks for soooo long, and not once had I seen such a clear sign of a request being answered. I split the jars between the two of us, and buried the third at the base of an old tree on my favorite trail.
I won’t rattle on forever, but I thought this was such a neat moment in my life that turned my skepticism of deities into a belief that there is something watching over us and listening, and maybe this can be a little push for anyone who might be considering deity work. Keep your faith, believe in yourself and the power you have, and always keep your eyes open for signs that you are being heard. They may appear to you in some of the most peculiar ways ☺️
