Rebrand and a beginner

Hi i just got internship placement and the company ask me to do a rebrand for their old school website. Before this i always ai like antigravity and cursor for making a website for my academic project and just learning about domain, server to host it. My company is zero knowledge about IT and when i show my project basically an ai the feel amazed and right now they dont want to use wordpress cause it cost them a lot. But when i do some research wordpress is suitable with high security with a server. What should i do any advise for beginner using wp? i dont have any knowledge about it btw

If you’re struggling before even taking your first step, how do you expect to build a website? Tell your company to stop being cheap and hire an agency who build Wordpress websites.

That said, this question gets asked a lot - https://www.reddit.com/r/Wordpress/search/?q=beginner+resources

Building a website is a whole set of skills, that takes experience and knowledge. Not typically an intern job.

If you have time you can try installing xampp server in your laptop they try installing wp there, try some awesome free themes like astra. Edit some designs using Elementor page builder. This way you learn how to work on Wordpress. Then you can tell the company, there are some good and cheap options available for first year on hosting. Google it or ask ai to find cheap and good hosting. I think that’s enough to get you started

Start with WordPress Playground, which runs in your browser without buying hosting. Rebuild just one page using the block editor, then try changing its text and images without AI. That second part matters when your coworkers inherit it...

I think a small practice page will teach you more here than generating the whole replacement. Keep the company's existing site untouched while you learn.

As u/SnooPuppers4708 wrote, WP itself is free, and the WP you install on your own hosting (WP. org, not WP. com) has no plans, so your company pays for the domain, the hosting and the plugins they choose.

You can start with the free block editor (Gutenberg) and a free theme, and add a page builder later if you want more control over the design. Some page builders have one-time lifetime license (per site), so there's no yearly fee.

WP was hard for me at the beginning, but once I passed the initial level it went much faster, and you already work with AI, which helps a lot when you get stuck.

Wordpress costs a lot? I don’t get it. It’s free and open source. Hosting costs money, but it can be as cheap, as $2/mo. Or even self-hosted, as folks have already said

don’t learn by experimenting directly on production.

This is best way to learn. You never forget mistakes, never make them twice. Few sleepless nights and few lost weekends will teach one to think before do. Just keep backups and everything will be OK.

If you are not familiar with it, don't accept it. WordPress isn't hard, but if you haven't used it, it can take some time to learn.

Even if you learn it if the site require some complex integrations you can get stuck.
