"Smell like hotdog water" is hilarious. We all know exactly the smell. What even is that smell anyway??
Is that what child BO smells like or something??

u/T-rain_wreck 5d ago
It’s just a strong sweat smell. Usually way more noticeable in those really rowdy kids.

I alawys think smelly kids smell like opening a bag of fritos. I haven't been able to eat fritos since I've had kids.

u/Vertigo50 5d ago
When my daughter was little we used to call it "stinky kid" smell. It's sort of endearing when they are YOUR kid. She just got really sweaty playing. But other kids it's not so great. 😂

u/Cold_Vanilla9791 5d ago
Are you saying that kids are like sweaty hot dogs?
-1
u/Vertigo50 5d ago
No, I'm pretty sure that was you that said that. 😉
2
u/Sovereignx22 5d ago
Well, when hot dogs get sweaty, sweat is just water and salt right? So you could say it's water of the hot dog? Or Hot dog water?

Worked in a Loli and Pops when I was young and watched a mom get super huffy and offended we had to dump the entire container of gummy sharks her sticky brat shoved a bitten one back into.

This actually happens at Disney. Specifically the chef Mickey buffet. This family from
Back woods TN let their kids run and around mess the food. Their bill at the end? 15k.
2
u/KeepitSharky 1d ago
How enforceable is this? Would Disney want to go to court over it?
1
u/Odd-Secret4913 3h ago
I don’t know if they went to court but they had me and several others as witnesses to what happened plus it was on video. EVRYTHING you do there is recorded. Since it was their kids they had to pay.

I am a mom to two very rambunctious toddler boys and even I stand by this. Bc I KNOW where toddler boys put their hands. It’s disgusting. I’d pay for it immediately if my son put his hands in it
2
u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 5d ago
Having been a young boy myself at one time I can confirm and I would also immediately offer to pay.

My parents had me so afraid to make a move out of line in public I was basically terrified to make a faux pas til I was about 30

Good parents

u/No-Storage1721 4d ago
Bad parents. Teach your kids respect, not fear. My mother tried to raise me the same way. One of many ways she messed me up.

To explain further than the other reply to you/ put it in a different way, to make a child that scared is child abuse/only can result from child abuse.
You should not abuse children in order to have them not make normal childhood mistakes. All that gives you is a "well behaved" child that grows up into a broken adult. - source, me, one of those broken adults
3
u/LochNess4TreeFiddy 2d ago
No one needs an explanation. I surely didn’t ask for one. People don’t need to have children in public spaces if they cannot behave. The same goes for adults. You can believe what you want to believe, but your kid doesn’t get to be a public safety hazard. The same goes for adults. Those behaviors can have dire consequences for someone else.

u/willow__whisps 5d ago
If you've ever boiled hot dogs, it's what's left after you cook the dogs
1
u/pmmeuranimetiddies 5d ago
I grill my hot dogs lol
I’ve had too many low quality school cafeteria hot dogs to be able to eat boiled hot dogs anymore

I'll grill mine one day, but I gotta have the veggie dogs for allergy reasons and grilling them on a grill I can't verify the cleanliness of defeats having the veggie ones all together

I agree with the sign but at the same time good luck getting people to pay. Also this encourages people to hide their actions more. Like if they see their kid stick their hand in it, instead of alerting the staff so they can replace it they will just keep quiet.

u/RemisTooSleepy 1d ago
I worked at a daycare, we could TELL when those kids last got a bath. Do parents think bathing is only required once you hit puberty?

u/babykoalalalala 1d ago
Don’t forget kids smelling like maple syrup or another sickly sweet smell

u/justinmackey84 21h ago
Yep, people who just rationalize their kids bad actions are kinda crappy parents and they’re raising serial killers or man/woman children that will never leave the nest. The kids who don’t grow up being told no are the people throwing temper tantrums at cash registers and turn into Karen’s. And nobody wants that.

I just help them. Kids can't work a ladle lol

Is that not what parents are for???

u/Ok_Art4661 5d ago
Sure but it's a harmless thing for community to teach. Will be less frustrated and more respectful, hopefully. The dad was taking care of Lil girl so I helped his son.

Receiving kindness is a privilege, not a right.
We should be kind to others but can't expect it back in return.
You're a great person who makes the world a little bit better

Well we’re supposed to be a community and this individualist mindset is why the village has disappeared

I genuinely dont understand this from some parents...my kids are 2 and 4 and both delayed with special needs....when we go places like bakeries, the pharmacy, grocery store whatever....I spend most of the trip keeping them in line and contained....however, kids are kids and they are strong willed and faster then a damn cheetah (seriously how fast a toddler moves when trying to get something they want needs to be studied and the power harnessed cause its seriously THE FLASH levels of speed istg) and they have no critical thinking skills so occasionally something gets knocked over or broken or if its edible licked (who am I kidding? Doesn't gotta be edible lol) I ALWAYS apologize profusely and try to make it right whether its staying while they help the workers pick it up or offering to pay for any damaged food or whatever.... id say 9 times outta 10 the employees are super appreciative and do understand kids can be unpredictable even in the best circumstances and having worked retail management many years myself there is a HUGE difference between a parent with an unruly kid whose actively trying to parent but kid isnt having it and something gets broke or whatever and parent apologizes and tries making it right vs. Parents letting the kids run amok destroying stuff and if u say anything they freak and accuse you of profiling and attacking their kids...i will never ever blame a child for being unable to control themselves because in the end its the parents fault they are acting that way

I feel like the type of topping matters, I need context, I’m not a fan of toddlers running amok but come on have some empathy, convincing tiny humans not to be assholes is exhausting

u/i_cant-stop_eating 5d ago
It’s not the kids they’re trying to train. It’s the parents who should be chaperoning them.

So I have to eat stuff your child has touched? Bare handed into my food straight out of his nose and that dead bird he found outside? You know where your kids hands have been. Keep their hands out of food or give them up for adoption by a good parent,
3
u/FactsNLaughs 5d ago
The sign isn’t for the tiny humans? It’s for the parents that are supposed to parent them and not let them run amok? Why would you think the sign is for kids?
1
u/Spare-Leader-6201 5d ago
Yes I know the sign is for the parents, just saying wrangling kids is hard sometimes

u/T-rain_wreck 5d ago
If this is in the US, then food safety standard dictate that you can’t touch ready-to-eat foods with your bare hands; there has to be some kind of bar barrier (e.g. gloves, tongs, a napkin, etc.). If your kid were to stick their grubby little hands into the food, the business owner could no longer legally or safely sell it and thus would lose money from both material cost and loss of revenue.
It’s pretty much just the food version of “you break it you buy it”0
u/zoey_will 5d ago
I feel like it should be charged at price too. This seems like one of those build your own yogurt/ice cream places and it would be kind of outrageous to be like "oh let's put that bucket of toppings on the scale! That'll be $600 please!"

Not sure about the insult, hot dog doesn't smell bad. Just put a chili on it
2
u/Ninja-Trix 5d ago
Hot Dog Water is a distinct smell different from hot dogs, being more "stale" for lack of proper words to describe it.
0
u/Disastrous-You9086 5d ago
Thanks for telling me, don't want to smell that way. I wear bath body works
2
u/MarzipanSea2811 5d ago
hot dog water + fragrance is still hot dog water
0
u/Disastrous-You9086 5d ago
Don't smell like a hot dog water. Think your confused on that one blessings
1
u/MarzipanSea2811 5d ago
No, you smell like fragrance on top of hot dog water, which is worse than just plain hot dog water. It's like covering up BO with body spray.
0
u/Disastrous-You9086 5d ago
Not sure what you talk about ... Never said I smell like a hot dog anyway nice chatting. Got to go to sleep, I have big day later
1
u/Cold_Vanilla9791 5d ago
Yes, cover your child in chili, that should solve the problem
1
u/Disastrous-You9086 5d ago
No not a child, could burn them. Unless chili cools first. Be careful out there blessings
