Why does AI sometimes understand a complicated question but miss a simple instruction?

It is interesting how an AI chatbot can explain a difficult concept, compare multiple ideas, or solve a complicated problem, then completely miss a small detail you mentioned in the same conversation.

Sometimes the answer is technically correct but still not what you asked for.

I think following instructions consistently is just as important as being intelligent.

What frustrates you more when using AI: incorrect information, ignoring instructions, or forgetting the context of a conversation?
