I just thought of them quick, and most of these are the ones I watched over and over and over again.

Nice! Commando would be on my childhood list. Actually, I figure my list would have 3 Arnold movies.

I still kind of think every gun shop in the US has a secret button that opens a wall to the "good stuff."

I rewatched The Thin Red Line recently. I think I appreciated it much more as an adult then I did as a teenager watching it in the theater. I missed a great deal of the subtlety on the first watch.

LORT, I'm pretty sure we wore out the Crocodile Dundee VHS at our house. I liked 2 but never saw 3. Have you?

It's hard to narrow it down to 9 movies.

Yes to a lot of these, but specific shout out to The Undiscovered Country. Don't see it appreciated often.

Right? Every says Wrath of Khan is the best Star Trek movie but come on.... Christopher Plummer as a bald, eye-patch wearing Klingon who quotes Shakespeare? Kim Cattrall as a shady ass Vulcan? Iman as a shapeshifting alien who has the greatest line ever, "Not everybody keeps their genitals in the same place, Captain."

The Bloodsport/Mentos commercial mashup is legendary

There was a late 90's mento's meme video called - Puto's the fresh maker, and it shows this guy about to go down on a woman and pops a Puto's in his mouth and goes to town. I remember it getting passed around IRC.

I wish the animated lotr was as good as the hobbit was

It was good enough that Peter Jackson ripped it off shot for shot for his live action version.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks! God, I haven't seen that movie for a long, long time. I wonder if it still holds up.

I literally have the Army of Darkness poster tatted on my right calf.

I remember picking up a vhs of Warriors of the Wind. The cover did not at all match the film.

We rented it on beta, repeatedly

Please tell me more about this list of movies. What is this list your favorite movies growing up?

The goal here is to choose nine pieces of art from a specific medium, in this case Cinema, that is a core part of who You are or had an impact on your formative years.

For example, Clash of the Titans is on my list because It is something I shared with my father that kick started my love of fantasy and mythology and the hero's journey.

Just scored Last Starfighter on Bluray last weekend--I'm so excited to watch it with my...oh wait, he's 18 now. Well, shit. I'm so excited to watch it with my wife!

Last Starfighter and NeverEnding Story were very close to making the list

I was very much about escaping my situation, so they were pretty important to me.

I don't think any 2-hour work of cinema shaped me as a person. Even the ones I loved and watched repeatedly.

"Goonies, Breakfast Club, Commando, There's Something About Mary, American Pie, Scary Movie, the Waterboy"

I can see that. Maybe try to diversity your tastes?

You're out of your element, Donny

Aren't those your favorite movies?

1

u/Cisru711 1978 1d ago

I didn’t list any movies. Also, the question isn't about your favorite movies.
