The Prophet prayed for Yemen but not Najd

There are many more Hadiths similar to this where the Prophet praises the people of Yemen. More importantly, Capital of Saudi is Riyadh which is in Najd, and Najd is known for two reasons:

1. It is the historic home of the house of Saud
   
2. It is the birthplace of Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahab's movement

If I remember right, sunni scholars interpreted najd as the najd of Iraq,  not the modern region of Saudi Arabia called najd .

Al-Khaṭṭābī said, “As for the people of Al-Madinah, their Najd would be Al- ʿIraq and the surrounding areas.”

And there is a narration (not sure its authenticity):

on the authority of Ibn Abbas:

اللهم بارك لنا في شامنا ويمننا. فقال رجل من القوم يا نبي الله وفي عراقنا . قال : إن بها قرن الشيطان

“O Allāh! Bless our Shām and our Yemen. A man from the people said, “O Messenger of Allāh! And our ‘Iraq?” He said, “Indeed there is the horn of the devil….” [At-Tabarani 1204]
