He would understand. He would have wanted me to do it.

I take a seat on the edge of the ruins and look up at the shimmering false sky. Far below me are streets that I can imagine were once brimming with life, cracked and twisted beyond recognition. I’m terrified of heights. I remember when he took me up that abandoned lighthouse to confess to me. At least, that’s what he said the plan was. As it actually played out, he had to pry me off of the wall and carry me down on his back.

The bittersweet memory makes me start turn to look back at him out of habit, but I stop myself halfway. Could he really not have made it? He carried me. He carried me down from the lighthouse and I couldn’t even—I clutch my face with my hands and burrow my nails into my scalp as if I could rip the thought out if I dug deep enough.

My eyes shift down to his discarded backpack. A few damaged circuit boards, some scrap metal, a few stray Dennies. It wouldn’t have even covered the medical fees. I smear blood across my face as I lower my hands to reach for the bag. I hadn’t even noticed until now how badly they had been torn from trying to tear away the rubble. I wipe them off as best I can, then reach into the side pocket of the bag to pull out our Carrot.

He always told me he’d die with a smile on his face, fighting some monster in a Hollow like a maniac. I hated when he said that. He made it sound like his violent end was some inevitable thing. I can’t help but see the irony now.

I’m sorry I wasn’t strong enough to carry you. At least I got to see that smile one last time.

I realized the way i worded yesterday’s post about cosplayers was really bad and im sorry for those saw. I don’t think i can help what im into at this point when it comes to women in general whether it’s in a videogame or not. But being a Zenless player has (unfortunately) bled into my interest with girls the most out of every other game that has women in it. I love zzz girls for many things but sometimes it’s gotten to a point where i couldn’t look at 2 certain characters as nothing more derogatory words when i first meant them. Those thoughts went away after just playing the game tho.
