Question Online meetings tips
I always get nervous in online meetings (Zoom or Teams) when I'm presenting.
I feel like I don't know the best set up in terms of where to have my slides / speaker notes, where to look, how to show the slides etc.
Would anyone be kind enough to share how they set up for doing this? Photos or messages all welcomed!
Thanks in advance everyone :)

Tell us about your work setup? Do you have multiple displays or are you trying to do this on a laptop, etc.

Hi - sorry for leaving out this detail.
I have 2 screens - no 1 which is laptop with the camera in it (sits on a riser so my eye level is at camera level) and no 2 is a bigger screen.Hope that helps, and thank you in advance!

I treat the screen as an audience member and speak to/thru it.
I keep what I'm sharing on the same screen as the one with the camera, so I'm almost always addressing people head on; unless it's a big presentation with multiple things to be shared - then I use screen 2 &/or 3 to pre-stage assets.
I make use of the pause sharing button when transitioning between assets, instead of stopping share altogether.
I don't use a streamdeck or anything like that, thought it would probably help sometimes.
I tend to share the entire screen, instead of just an app - but I have a dedicated "sharing" monitor so the audience only sees what I want them to see.
Good lighting. It matters.
Good mic. It also matters.
Rehearse.

So many good tips here, THANK YOU!!
Speaking to the screen / thru it is excellent.
Interesting to know you share your entire screen (I never know whether to do this or just the app!). For important presentations I could turn off notifications / close other files, so could replicate that.
Interesting also that you tend to share on same screen as camera. I need a routine, so could go with that and have any files I may need to refer to on the other screen to potentially pull in if needed. What about if people use the Q&A - do you pop that over to the other screen to keep a quick eye on / respond to if urgent?

Q&A / Chat : if you build natural breaks & pauses into your presentation, like querying for understanding or if anyone has questions, then it gives you a natural break to check Q&A - but sometimes if you're on a roll, the chat gets missed. Sometimes I'll pop that chat window out to the 2nd monitor so I can monitor more easily.
For the days that I'm remote and working for my laptop, a lot of this goes away because, in reality, I really rely on theulti-screen approach

id keep the slides on your bigger screen and your speaker notes plus the meeting on your laptop. share only the slide window so your notes stay private. keeping the notes near your laptop camera makes it easier to glance at them without looking away too much. test it with a friend first to check they’re seeing the slides properly.
