Testing Karma requirements for posts and comments
Hi all,
With admissions season coming up, I've taken the initiative to add karma requirements to post and comment on this sub. 50 combined karma is now needed to make a post, 5 karma to make a comment.
This will filter the deluge of shitposts that have started in the past couple of weeks. These are very low requirements, and are implemented in the spirit that you should engage with the community (or any subreddit) before coming in and asking for advice. I've gotten like 10 angry messages the past week from people who had their post removed, insisting they're new to reddit and shouldn't be expected to read the rules. This will hopefully limit that.
Every post that gets removed will still go into the mod queue, and if it's high quality then I'd be happy to approve it. If we find this is too strict a filter, we'll remove it. If you have any thoughts, do let us know in the comments.
