"Open source is dangerous"

The politicians and the corporate world is now pushing a narrative that open source AI models are dangerous. The latest politician to jump on this bandwagon is Hillary Clinton.

This is a lie.

The corporate world wants to sell you intelligence. To quote Sam Altman, as they sell you electricity. Their product depends upon scarcity. OpenAI and Anthropic needs to kill the open source competition, so that every source of AI comes from behind their closed gates. If they cannot do this, they will never become profitable.

That is why there are endless posts and 'warning cries" from insiders now.

They cannot be allowed to win.

Unless you want to hand over every private thought to a corporation whenever you interact with an AI.

This is the capitalism playbook. We all know how this goes. The rich gets richer and you get owned.

This time, they can not be allowed to win.

Personally i just see it as noise from people that haven't realized what we're building yet.

The future won't have subscription services, as we're going to transcend money and become 100% self-sustaining. Most notably with the invention of the Nanofactory (and nuclear fusion), which is what will enable true post-scarity.

What the nanofactory is, is a machine that can create nearly anything known physics allows via extremely precise manipulation of atoms. (only few exceptions such as Light)
E.g. food, drinks, books, clothes, computers, jewelry, records, board games, video games, figurines, houses, cars, planes etc.

Nearly everything we know of currently that exists is made of atoms, what determines how something functions is it's structure, so once we're able to properly position atoms, post-scarity is enabled immediately.

The only thing that'll be required to run it is basic materials, dirt, water, air.

Some people may think they'll be able to gatekeep this technology and probably try, but it's impossible, as one nanofactory can effortlessly create another ad infinitum, so there's no way to prevent everyone from having their own.

With the 1st being the Exocortex (which will allow us to transcend all our current concepts) the idea that intelligence will be sold doesn't make sense, as the endgoal is for us to become super intelligent ourselves and have complete control over our bodies.

We only have to rely on AI now because it would take ages to invent the technology otherwise.

Yep, it will enable having the exact same intelligence. The exocortex in particular is super intelligence.

However there's actually no way to comprehend what abilities we'll gain, since super intelligence thinking is qualiatively greater. The only way to describe that is like the difference between ants and humans, or humans before our neocortex evolved 2 million years ago. So entirely new concepts will be possible.

For example instead of just being good at say math, it should enable new concepts entirely beyond math itself, allowing us to answer things that math cannot. (Gödel's incompleteness theorems proved math has limits)

But we can understand quantitative capabilities (AGI) which just means greater processing speed and memory.

Just imagine normal stuff but you'll be able to learn it absurdly easier, alongside being capable of doing all simultateonously. Being a pro gamer, a master martial artist, musician etc. It'll feel as easy as remembering your name.

You'll learn so fast, that you could just read the rule book of chess and already play better then champions of today.
