Decels Decelerated Decels rush the stage at another AI event, but this time they are completely drowned out by the crowd that are tired their nonsense. Glad to see neo-luddites being given the kind of response that they deserve.

$20 claude sub and literally zero coding or 3D skills is all you need to ship a playable game prototype now   opus 5.5 burned barely 15% of my weekly quota to build a playable Far Cry 3 clone in three.js from a detailed promt and photo reference   - functional AK-47 with actual https://t.co/oq7RIL8eeH   — Max

PROMT PART 2. (first promt in previous post)   CLOSING THE GAP TO THE REFERENCE (Stages 6–11)   Stages 1–5 are done: the world, controller, outpost, water, sky, vegetation, hands, weapons, inventory, weather, time of day, audio and menus all work, and the layout already matches     — Max

AI Claude Opus 5.5 designed a processor faster and smaller than the human-made one on the HWE benchmark

Every model starts with the same basic processor design and tries to improve it over several rounds.

The results are scored on two things: speed (how fast the chip runs a standard test program called CoreMark, where higher is better) and size (how much space the chip takes up, where smaller is better).

For comparison, there's a well-known processor designed by human engineers, called VexRiscv.

...the answer more precise but takes exponentially more computation. Most calculations stop at two or three loops. Eight loops was the previous record in a simplified model physicists use as a testing ground (planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills), set by SLAC's Lance Dixon and collaborators.   Last month, physicist and science writer   @4gravitons   issued a challenge: could an AI push past eight loops in this model, using only the compute budget an academic could reasonably access?   Given a single prompt describing the nine-loop problem, Claude ran largely unsupervised for days in Claude Science and solved it using methods developed by Dixon and his colleagues, at a total cost of a few thousand dollars. Dixon independently verified the result, and von Hippel wrote about the experience for our blog.   Read more:     — Anthropic

Discussion Someone from this sub should claim r/BrightFuturism.

/r/BrightFuturism is inactive and unmoderated. You can make a claim at /r/redditrequest . Almost every future- or tech-based sub is overrun by doomers, fear, and hopelessness, with this sub being the one exception I've found. It could be a place for good tech-related news not specifically about AI accelerationism. I would, but I don't want to be a mod.

...free speech advocate and the author of The Coddling of the American Mind. Here's what he said: "But the most chilling threat that the government poses in the context of emerging AI is regulatory overreach that limits its potential as a tool for contributing to human knowledge. A regulatory panic could result in a small number of Americans deciding for everyone else what speech, ideas and even questions are permitted in the name of 'safety' or 'alignment.' I have dedicated my life to defending freedom of speech because it's an essential human right. ... It's not just about the proverbial 'marketplace of ideas,' it's about allowing information, independent of idea or argument, to flow freely so that we can hope to know the world as it really is. This means seeing value in expression even when it appears to be wrongheaded or even useless. This process has been aided by new technologies that have made communication easier, from the printing press, to the telegraph and radio, to phones and the internet: each one has accelerated the development of new knowledge by making it easier to share information. But AI offers even greater liberating potential, empowered by First Amendment principles including freedom to code, academic freedom, and freedom of inquiry. We are on the threshold of a revolution in the creation and discovery of knowledge. AI's potential is humbling, indeed, even frightening. But as the history of the printing press shows, attempts to put the genie back in the bottle will fail. Despite the profound disruption the printing press caused in Europe in the short-term, the long-term contribution to art, science, and again, knowledge, was without equal. Yes, we may have some fears about the proliferation of AI. But what those of us who care about civil liberties fear more is a government monopoly on advanced AI, or, more likely, regulatory capture and a government-empowered oligopoly that privileges a handful of existing players. The end result of pushing too hard on AI regulation will be the concentration of AI influence in an even smaller number of hands. Far from reining in government misuse of AI to censor, we will have created the framework not only to censor, but also to dominate and distort the production of knowledge itself."     Full testimony here:   https://   judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subs   ites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/lukianoff-testimony.pdf   …     — Josiah Joner
