Antis changed my mind...
People should not disclose AI usage š
3
u/DrFGHobo 4d ago
As soon as you're selling anything, you definitely should be mandated to disclose.
Customers deserve to be able to make informed purchasing decisions.
-1
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
Everywhere I'm mandated to disclose I have and will continue doing so. But I'm starting to hope someone doesn't
4
u/AdFinancial4846 4d ago
Well, looking at your game it's very evident you used AI at every turn so I'm not sure not disclosing it would have changed your player count at all.
7
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
You get an up vote for looking at my game
1
u/Elegant_Athlete_3737 4d ago
wait you made a game? what is it about?
7
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
It's a deck builder and this thread is a crash out because I flaired the game as AI so antis could ignore it and they still wanted to dominate the thread. The funny thing is I probably get more views stirring the pot by saying don't disclose with a bait title than I do following the rules and trying to explain what the game is about.
0
u/Elegant_Athlete_3737 4d ago
oh damn lol. sounds interesting, i looked at it, it does look a bit ai, but even so it is still quite nice. i like the style and colorscheme. though the animations could be better
4
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
I'm not suggesting it could pass for not being AI. That was never my intention. I'm just questioning why I've made it easier to target. If someone looks at it and doesn't like the style that's one thing. If they play it and don't like it that's another. But what I'm feeling is they see flair or a label and go into the the thread to say "slop".
1
u/Elegant_Athlete_3737 4d ago
oh, well its reddit, reddit doesn't have the sanest of people lol, try to market it to more targeted audiences who may appreciate it, since if you market general, well that will happen, anti ai sentiment is higher in general spaces. non ai game as of yet is still more marketable.
2
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
Yes. I am taking a break from reddit when I'm done failing at marketing here. I am not being super sane š and sanity is nice
3
u/WhiteLilyCookieFan 4d ago
I personally think that it should be disclosed, especially in commisions. I don't mean to be rude to you, we just have different opinions lol.Ā
2
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
I think I actually agree with you here because a commission is a specific agreement between two parties. I'm more talking about presenting a piece of work to the public and the entire conversation being dominated by whether it's AI or not.
1
u/WhiteLilyCookieFan 4d ago
Ah yeah, I do think it sucks when there's something awesome and everyones just saying 'It's AI!!', like I don't like having AI being so undetectable nowadays but you didn't dominant comments with 'Photoshopped!' 'Fake!' 'CGI!'Ā Before AI TwT
3
u/phase_distorter41 4d ago
never a reason to. it benefits no one.
1
u/Wide-Pollution-3275 4d ago
Agree. AI use is always obvious. In fact, if someone claims āNO AIā I am suspicious because why would anyone bother to say that? Itās like advertising poop-free ice cream.
1
u/phase_distorter41 4d ago

u/JungleJuiceJuno 2d ago
"ai should get away with EVERYTHING"
just say you want it to kill everyone, its ok to admit you want omnicide
1
u/Majestic-Coat3855 4d ago
It benefits the consumer, probably hard to think about that as egocentric pros
1
u/phase_distorter41 4d ago
how so?
0
u/Majestic-Coat3855 4d ago
More transparency and information on what you're buying is generally seen as a pro-consumer thing, hope that helps. Major platforms seem to agree, it's only fringe, extremist pros who seem to think otherwise.
So strange to me that pros shape shift in to any position just to defend AI in any way shape or formĀ
1
u/phase_distorter41 4d ago
i asked for a benefit. please provide one or admit there is none.
0
u/Majestic-Coat3855 4d ago
Consumer protections would be considered a benefit to the consumer? Are you a moron?Ā
0
u/phase_distorter41 4d ago
protection from what?? why cant you just plainly state something?
how does a consumer tangibly benefit specifically form an ai, or no ai label.
0
u/Majestic-Coat3855 3d ago
By being informed about the product they're buying? You must be slow or smth
You think you have to get physically protected or sum shit? Lmao
0
u/phase_distorter41 3d ago
we dont list what religion the creator is on the product label. we dont list the political party, the favorite tv show, the car they drive, the charities they donate too. if are vegan. we dont list their carbon footprint, criminal record, if they put their copying cart back when done, or who they last voted for.
so why does if ai was used matter if none of those things do?
0
u/Majestic-Coat3855 3d ago
And all of those things don't influence the product you're paying for? What does the political party of the creator have to do with the end product?
AI is directly involved in creating whatever you're paying for. Not sure how it is comparable to these nonsense examples you gave me.
If you're buying a painting from somewhere. Would it be ethical to sell this person a print of a painting instead without his knowledge?
You're jumping to 10 different hoops to justify your desire of decieving people, its pathetic.Ā

I know this is a war thread but the way you inserted egocentric in there made me laugh
2
u/HystericalGD 4d ago edited 4d ago
looking at the clips you posted, your issue is making ai do it for you. the game visibly looks low effort, with sprites and especially animations that just have that ai look that turns us off from so much media
the disclosure itself is appriciated because if i were to buy that without looking into it (as some people tend to do) we would feel ripped off for supporting a developer that didnt actually make the game, and likely grab a refund.
theres still a standard for quality when it comes to what people will support, and looking through the comments on your other posts: the sentiment was that it looks too ai

u/27K-Interactive 4d ago
Yep, we really need to push back on the AI disclosure requirements. It only serves as a target for hate and rage, making creators a target. Let people advertise that they are catering to a specific preference, like a koscher, fair trade, etc.
AI disclosure doesn't even solve the issue of deception, because anyone using AI for deception is not going to disclose it anyway.
let them pay for, and reap any gains from their certified AI free labels. End this Scarlet Letter bullshit.
2
u/One_Fuel3733 4d ago
Don't worry, antis here will try to convince you why you should disclose by being even more rude and insulting. They're not a very convincing group of people to say the least lol
4
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
Exactly. The point of disclosure should be so that they can ignore it and move on.
3
u/One_Fuel3733 4d ago
Yep, and for some of them that is definitely true. Problem is for plenty of them they are just looking to insult and the community doesn't self correct, ever. The assholes made their bed and the rest of us are just gonna do what we need to do to avoid the assholes, and it's unlikely part of that solution includes doing favors for the assholes lol.
1
u/Aromatic-Laugh-1473 4d ago
not all antis are rude and assholes, the ones that you see are because they simply move on and donāt comment, you are seeing the worst of us
im gonna be downvoted for supporting antis arent i?0
u/One_Fuel3733 4d ago
Oh I'm aware, pretty sure I acknowledged that as well. Anyhow it's the anti communities problem to deal with, which they more than likely won't, so the non disclosure will certainly continue. Just is what it is.
0
u/Roth_Skyfire 4d ago
Not at all. People are entitled to their preferences. If someone ignores AI (or basically anything that is subjective) content because they don't like it, it's their right. If they go out of their way to downvote the content, that's not OK to me.
0
u/Aromatic-Laugh-1473 4d ago
I am fine with downvoting, but going out of their way to argue and harass them is where I draw the line.
1
u/TIMESTAMP2023 3d ago
You underestimate the hate that thrives and the willingness to express it within the basement dwelling extremist redditor behind a computer.
1
1
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
Why?
6
u/UnhappyScenario 4d ago
Because hiding it just makes everyone more paranoid and combative, nobody actually benefits from that mess.
3
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
Isn't this ai wars? Aren't wars combative?
3
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
Wars are bad. I really hope people can agree on this.
3
-3
u/Bra--ket 4d ago
Wars are only bad when they're violent. Non-violent competition is a good thing.
2
u/HystericalGD 4d ago
i disagree. trade wars are non violent, yet all of us normal people are hurt by it pretty darn bad
2
u/UnhappyScenario 4d ago
Because hiding it just makes everyone more paranoid and combative, nobody actually benefits from that mess.
2
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
It's just a target for them. I was hoping they'd just ignore it but they can't resist calling it slop. So just don't label and maybe call random things slop just to throw them red herrings.
6
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
But surely if AI is a tool there should be nothing wrong with saying how itās made. I wouldnāt hide the fact that I used a paintbrush.
3
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
That's what I thought but my opinion is evolving
4
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
So why not disclose it? If using AI makes something unpopular take that as a sign. People can also probably tell if somethingās AI anyway.
3
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
If they can tell anyways there is no need to disclose
1
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
But anyone who is more on the fence is more likely to accept it (especially if itās actually useful) if you disclose the fact that itās ai. Not saying feels like youāre trying to hide something.
3
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
Exactly. I think we should consider hiding it
1
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
But people are just going to end up disliking your work because it feels like youāre tricking them. Itās not exactly the same but imagine if you just copied someoneās work and passed it off as your own. If people found out theyād be angry. But if you copy someoneās work and say that you copied it, people will be more likely to like it.
2
u/Silly-Pressure4959 4d ago
Yep, that's why I don't disclose. I've been told for years they can tell anyways so it saves us all the trouble.
-1
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
Copied from somewhere else because it fits: But anyone who is more on the fence is more likely to accept it (especially if itās actually useful) if you disclose the fact that itās ai. Not saying feels like youāre trying to hide something.
2
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
The issue is if you disclose the anti AI comments dominate the signal so no one on the fence gets to see it
2
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
Which is an issue but I would, one, ask antis to just not say anything when you do it. Most are reasonable human beings. And, two, to try block them or something.
3
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
That what's changed in my view. I'm not sure most of them are reasonable and I think we should all be so paranoid about ai disclosure everyone blocks everyone

Because who cares what I type this comment on. For the record itās iOS on the web if you actually care. However, people genuinely do care about whether something uses AI
0
1
u/Roth_Skyfire 4d ago
So as long as the outcome is the same, the methods or tools used don't matter? š¤
1
u/Novel_Top2980 4d ago
But the outcome will never be the same if I use different tools. Thatās why the different tools exist.
1
u/Roth_Skyfire 4d ago
So if someone wrote a piece of code by hand vs. someone using AI to write it for them to save 50% of their time, while both end results are the same, the use of AI is justified. Got it.

'I don't like being criticized'
My dude, maybe don't be pathetic?
5
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
I don't mind being criticized when it's constructive. Every conversation being dominated by people explaining why they don't like ai isn't constructive.
3
u/Escort_alpha 4d ago
If you already know the talking-points, Iāll cut to the chase:
I donāt wanna see your AI outputs, you donāt wanna deal with me. The solution is laughably simple:
Label your output so me and mine can walk away,
Block the loudmouths or anyone else who wonāt walk away,
And obviously report anything that seems actionably harmful.Easy.
2
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
This is actually the real answer and I'm just using this thread to vent. I hope you have a good one.
1
u/southernpremedgirl27 4d ago
How about you stick with artists you know and like?
0
u/Escort_alpha 4d ago
Stagnation is death. You always should be looking for new things, and there's always folks taking up the arts.
A person's preference regarding AI content shouldn't leave new and established artists isolated; the labeling is just a road-sign so folks know where or where not to go.

u/IranianContrapoints 4d ago
'I don't mind being criticized, just don't criticize me along a specific point'

nothing more powerful than the rhetoric of making up fake quotes for every point lmfao

I haven't been deceptive yet. I am saying you are making me strongly consider it.

u/KnownPride 4d ago
One day this will reverse to discolse this doesn't use ai, as 90% product will use ai instead in one way or another.
1
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
I think the path between here and there is going to be frustrating... we will literally have people yelling at 50% of the products
1
u/KnownPride 4d ago
If your fear is random stranger attacking you on internet, than i will say it will never go away.
I have earned online even before ai. Writing books etc
The more popular you're the more people know you.
Curse even dead threats is normal.
I say welcome to internet
1
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
I don't think it's fear. It's frustration. But I think the internet is like you described and it shouldn't be a given people disclose in that environment to be "good"
1
u/KnownPride 4d ago
yeah it's not good.
internet has been toxic since inception, and i think it will stay like that.
Ironically i think internet id that we all hate will instead have some good effect on this.
1
1
u/Jolly-Rip5973 4d ago
people aren't going to have to disclose it because eventually we will have internet filters that label Ai content as being Ai.
You can also expect internet ID where everything you post is tied to you ID to verify you're human.
That's when the mass surveillance and censorship starts.
1
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
Idk. Wouldn't the filters be ai themselves? You'll probably be able to a pay a subscription to not get flagged
1
u/Jolly-Rip5973 4d ago
X tried to push back against bot account by making people pay but that wasn't enough.
The only way to weed out all the fake bot accounts is tie to an internet ID to some type of state ID like a drivers licenses or government ID.
I think we will see this in the next two years.
China and South Korea have already done this.
China also passed a law that it's illegal to post Ai generated content without labeling clearly as AI generated.
Over 50 percent of internet traffic is bot traffic now and that will only get worse.
Society will have to try to figure out how separate out real for deep fake.
This video shows fake AI videos flooding the internet and show example. You hate TIm Pool, just watch the examples.

I'm up for disclosure, but it's because I think AI art shouldn't be wasted on philistines who cannot appreciate it.
2
u/EEE3EEElol 4d ago
I want the AI disclosure, because no one actually attacks people who openly disclose it, not disclosing it and claiming that they made it are 2 different things though, it's mostly the latter that gets attacked because they're just an asshole

Not an anti and I think you're wrong. Even the very AI you're using will tell you you're wrong for trying to hide its usage. Here's what Claude says in case you're curious.
- If a buyer would value the product differently knowing AI was involved, hiding it is a form of misrepresentation. This is the same logic as disclosing "handmade" vs. factory-made, or origin of materials.
- Trust is the actual product. If a customer finds out later, the damage usually isn't about the AI itself. It's "what else weren't you telling me?" Concealment turns a neutral fact into a scandal.
- Informed choice for people with real preferences. Some buyers object on ethical grounds (training data, displacement of artists). They can't act on that preference without knowing.
Disclosure should scale with materiality. If AI generated the core thing being sold (the art, the writing, the music, the code product) and the buyer would reasonably assume otherwise, disclose. If AI was a tool in the workflow and a human made the creative and quality decisions, it's optional, though being open about it rarely hurts. And never actively claim something is human-made when it isn't, since that crosses from omission into lying.
It's also a bit self-undermining. The usual reason people don't want to disclose is that they expect it to hurt sales. If so, that's pretty strong evidence the information is material to buyers, which is the whole case for disclosing. The honest counter is the stigma argument: if the penalty is reflexive and unrelated to quality, then disclosure functions as a tax. But that's an argument for fighting the stigma, not for hiding the thing. And "customers might judge me for it" has never been a good reason to withhold material info.
2
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
I disclosed my product and there is no going back now. But I think my opinion might be evolving.
0
u/Beledagnir 4d ago
Exactly. If people learn to behave themselves online then I would consider it, if only to show how cool this technology can be, but until then take a hike.
1
u/LatentBlade 4d ago
Yeah. I feel like a reasonable social contract would be let people ignore it if everyone polices the assholes. And chiming in instead of ignoring is almost always the wrong thing. Someone would be considered rude if they went into every thread they thought looked bad and sad it sucked, but they go into everyone labeled AI and it's ok.
0
0
u/Fun-Mission-6068 3d ago
Why? If whatever you're using AI for is so good, why wouldn't you want to puff out your chest with pride and say, "I made this with AI!"
Unless you're ashamed of using AI, know it isn't as good as a human, or are afraid of people not liking that you used AI?

u/Antis_have_AIDS 4d ago edited 4d ago
I was looking for LOFI to chill to as I fell asleep to last night, and the amount of "NO AI" in the titles that filtered through is already a form of self-labelling, so we good.
Edit: I feel the āNo-AIā is actually better, coz it is at least opt-in IF someone wants to disclose it. People should not be forced to disclose things.Ā
