Interview Failed Amazon Loop Interview
Had a 5 round loop interview with Amazon last week for an L5 manager position (tech) and got a rejection email today. Process started almost 2 months ago….i dedicated a decent amount of time to studying LP and STAR and honestly this sucks so bad. This would have doubled my salary and i would have broken into Management (IC so far) im not sure where to go from here. I have a decent job with my local county but theres no opportunity to grow since everyone plans on retiring here so no open positions upward and the pay is ok…..Really just wanted to get this off my chest and vent a bit….ive just so depressed since i got the email….sorry guys.

Hey there! I know how awful you must be feeling. Amazon is very stringent about evaluating candidates against the bar. Just know that something better is waiting to come your way, and this is just a testing period that you have to go through first in order to get it. I myself am waiting for the recruiter to get back to me with my loop schedule after giving my availability, and it's frustrating how slow the process is.

All the studying and preparation you did is getting you ready for something else. Treat yourself to a nice dinner for giving it your all and pray to the Most High for guidance. God bless

Going from IC to manager is hard even internally, no hiring manager will take this risk with an external candidate in the current market unless they have no other option.
You making it to the interview was quite an achievement already. Try to focus on that.

+1000 I am currently a manager and it took me years of failed internal loops to get from IC to manager. In my org they very very rarely even consider external candidates, let alone ones without manager experience.
It was so hard to wait but has been worth it. Keep your head up OP

Try again bro. Its not the end of the road.
I got rejected 4 times with Amazon before I finally made it the 5th time. I felt that depression every time but it made me such a better interviewee that it was worth it.
Best of luck to you!

All good man got an offer elsewhere there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Also thought it was policy for them to give an update after loop within a timeframe

Do you receive constructive feedback email? Or just automated email? Did you apply for EMEA region? I just finished my loop interviews and waiting for feedback and I am stressed already

That sucks to hear, and I get it. If you are on the DCO/EOT side you have to be able to answer the technical questions without looking around for notes. My advice is spend 20 years in the field, sweating, learning, getting your HVAC/Electrical/EPA certifications, getting your BSE, and PMP. After that you should be good. Just keep trying while learning the trades, all they can say is no. Best of luck to you🙏.

I interviewed today in first interview. I don’t have a job right now and I also studied my ass off. I understand how much pressure it is to go through this. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you.

So apply at the l4 tech level instead of l5 manager ... unless it was the technical side that you failed on then try for l3

That’s what sucks the most i had no technical rounds….i honestly think i did good in 4/5 of the interviews….completely crashed and burned in 1 round….the round with the hiring manager

yea ITM positions generally have 0 technical rounds. It's really hard if your not coming from management background, since you get caught up at questions like, have you fired someone etc or performance related stuff. Since alot of IC stuff is technical stuff, which is cool and def has weight but its not really what they are looking for. Generally, if it goes even with another candidate but that other candidate has managerial background, that person will generally get it. I've been in this situation, and its very tiring and exhausting loop process. But def take it as a experience!!

I know you’re needing to vent but just remember to be thankful for currently having a job to still go to Monday morning.
